The austere facade of this hotel belies the warm welcome inside. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly and arranged to book a table for us in the Huntsman Lodge. We had asked for a quiet room and had a lovely room along a long corridor. Our room was spacious and the bathroom large and very well fitted.
The food was good but we thought the bar prices unnecessarily high. It is unusual and impressive that the Huntsman Lodge offers a separate vegetarian menu on request. The seating is not best suited to eating as the chairs are low bucket seats and the staff provide cushions to boost their height. Breakfast was excellent.

Room Tip: The standard room we saw looked small. Upgrade if possible.

Perfect break in a wonderful location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food is of a very high standard, without being pricey. The service efficient, Our food arrived promptly. On our second night we ate in the huntsman bar, due to a wedding function. Both restaurant and bar menus were available. Residents were attended to, there was no deterioration in service. In fact, staff went out of their way to ensure there wasn't. The bar has a fantastic fireplace, with great views over the estate. There are lovely walks. Our room was on the ground floor, a good size, with large modern bathroom. It was very peaceful.

We are no strangers to the Coniston - the surroundings are just beautiful, the food is excellent and the staff are superb - celebrated my parent's diamond wedding anniversary today - usual high standard - and - as usual, Paul bent over backwards to make sure we were happy!

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely - but treat yourself to a Superior room - and ask for one in the new extension - a bit of a treck from the main building - but worth it!

Stayed for 1 night 24th November in this lovely hotel. We had a nice quiet relaxing time...wonderful views, excellent meal in the Huntamans Lodge by the impressive fire and a superb breakfast was served the next morning. The lovely staff were all helpful cheerful and friendly. It would have been 5 stars but for the bathroom which was in definate need of a makeover...not quite four star standard.
