“Falconry experience”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

As I haven't actually stayed overnight in the hotel I can't really rate it any higher than very good, but my experience during the day would lead me to believe that it probably would be excellent.

I have visited the Hotel Falconry Centre twice and both experiences were excellent. The Hotel itself managed the falconry registration and then offered complementary bacon sandwiches, which were tasty and a nice touch. Lunch was also in the Hotel dining room and very good. The hotel is in a wonderful location and on both occasions I felt I would have liked to have stayed longer.

This Hotel never fails to please. From entering the drive to leaving, the whole experience is one of quality without compromise. The food, the rooms, the surroundings, the staff, value for money etc., etc., simply excellent.

From the moment we walked through the door the service was excellent!
Service spot on. Nothing was too much trouble!
We particularly liked the bar/restaurant area which has beautiful views over the lake and surrounding countryside. It has a superb terrace.
We stayed there for the Falconry experience which was awesome. We were so privaleged to be there.
We are planning to return in the very near future.
If you decide to stay there choose a room with a patio facing the lake. The rooms were fantastic.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a patio and lake view-well worth splashing out for.

At very short notice we decided on a Bank Holiday break and by great good fortune the Coniston had vacancies for the two of us and our two labs. Beautifully fitted out throughout, consistently excellent, caring and welcoming staff, wonderful food with good choices and beer in splendid condition. Many places CLAIM to be dog friendly but the Coniston genuinely IS!! WE could "eat" with the "boys" in the huge, spacious and most attractive bar and we were allocated an excellent room- not a"broom cupboard" or inferior room that so many places offer to dog owners. THe owner/MD- Mr Michael Bannister- is the most charming gentleman and although he could not claim to be a young man(!!) he genuinely cares for his guests and is very much around the place. A good setting between Settle and Skipton on the A65 and with beautiful views. We will return!

Booked via external booking site, read reviews, and booked two nights with breakfast. Arrived early evening and we had booked 2nd night evening meal, after telephone confirmation by hotel. Excellent friendly welcome, offers of assistance, food / meal, and found a very clean well furnished room, lovely view of lake and grounds. Paper arrived early next morning, good hot shower. Down for breakfast, again very friendly welcome, coffee, tea, toast arrived, and a full Yorksire breakfast arrived, hot, good quality and portions, set up for days walking. The reception gave us a copy of the walks on the estate, and made us aware of other activities available. After a good days walk, and a visit to nearby Skipton, & Settle, arrived back, greeted by reception, and a cracking pot of tea for two in the lodge area. Refreshed we went on the Lakeland walk, well signed, and beautiful. Evening meal was excellent, there was a coach party staying, but that did not affect our meal, we enjoyed a 3 course meal, from the signature menu, and some wine, followed by coffee in the bar area. Never slept better, and having endured another excellent breakfast, we reluctantly had to leave. Will certainly visit again, all staff were polite, attentive, and very friendly. Even the cleaners were friendly. Excellent value for money, and probably the best hotel stay we have had in a long time. Good location, quiet. Thank you

Can not fault this hotel. The service, food, and location are second to none. We've just spent two nights there celebrating our wedding and can't wait for our first anniversary to book in again.
Wondering why it always seems that the 'posh' places seem to have staff for whom nothing is too much trouble while more mediocre places think they're doing you a favour just doing their job.
A very special place indeed
