We came to stay for two nights and chose the White Swan because of the favourable reviews. The manager, Tina was professional and helpful, as was Tracy, who was lovely and couldn't be more charming. Our room was clean and well-decorated, bathroom and shower were very good.

What let our stay down (big time) was the noise. Our first night co-insided with a 'Jam' evening, offering people a chance to play live music, in an area directly under the guest bedrooms. This was not advised to us on booking in. We had looked forward to an early night, which simply did not happen. The music was so loud that our our room literally shook until 11.40 in the evening. MAKE SURE THAT YOU AVOID WEDNESDAYS UNLESS YOU LIKE VERY LOUD MUSIC.

Other than that, our heating did not come on in the morning (although Tracy did get it working and was very apologetic) but when we got back to our room in the afternoon, the heating had gone off again.

At this point, we had to cut our visit short at lunchtime on the second day and go home and had to pay for 2 nights because of the cancellation policy, which we sort of understand, however, the room had not been cleaned and no linen had been changed.

In summing up, it is a shame that we had a bad experience and I'm sure it would have been much better on a different night. Shame the music wasn't advised to us in advance.

Dear JuneJim

Many thanks for taking the time to post a review to Trip Advisor

Firstly, my apologies that you did not enjoy your stay. We have very little negative feedback and have taken your comments on board.

Wednesday Jam Night – Wednesday evenings are enjoyed by all our locals, to which we offer people to participate in playing a musical instrument or a general sing-a-long. We endeavor to inform all our guests that on Wednesday and Saturday evenings, live music is played. I am aware that some guests have early starts in the mornings and would like to think that 11.30pm is a reasonable cut off point, I would also like to point out that when we refurbished the rooms upstairs nearly a year ago we did install heavy duty acoustic matting for timber floors to combat airborne and impact sound insulation, this to help reduce the level of noise.

Heating – From time to time, like any other home heating, the pressure drops on the boiler which can happen at anytime, it was unfortunate that this occurred during your stay. Luckily with the type of boiler installed once the pressure is back to its normal limits then the water and heating is instant again, this only take a few seconds to rectify once we are informed, but I can only apologise for the heating not being on in the afternoon, as its set on a timer and guests are generally out during the day, this comes back on at around 3.30pm.

Housekeeping – Our rooms are cleaned daily and sheets/towels are changed after each guest has departed. In general we change our sheets and towels every other day for guests staying longer that one night. As you had booked in for a two night stay, your room was ‘Refreshed’ to which the bed was made and the room tidied and fresh towels would have been put in your room if required.

We are sorry also that you had to cut your stay short with us due to personal issues at home, and I am confident that your second night, had you stayed, would have been a more pleasurable experience and a lot quieter than the first. We do hope that you will visit us again soon so that you may finish off your shopping trip to Lincoln.

Best Wishes
Tina

Booked this at the last minute and was not really sure what to expect. The staff are absolutely fantastic couldnt do enough for you but they are not in your face.
Perfectly clean room, we were at the front and did expect a bit of noise being a Friday night, this was not the case.
A fantastic choice of breakfast!!!!!!

Unfortunately, our first and only experience at the White Swan was not a good one. We were not advised that there would be a band playing in the pub directly below us. The noise was unbearable and our much needed sleep was cut short. On a positive note, the lady serving our breakfast was a delight to talk to, very friendly and helpful.

We stayed at the White Swan for one night on the 9th January. We booked the morning of our visit as it was a lovely sunny winters day and we decided to take a look at Market Rasen. We were greeted by a friendly Tina who showed us to our room. The room was very comfortable and clean, everything we needed was there. Lovely bathroom, tea, coffee, T.V. and internet access.....which we didn;t need as we had come away for the night to get away from work!!! The White Swan does not provide evening meals, but this was not a problem, even in this small town there were plenty of places to eat. We chose the Gate of India, which Tina recommended, we were not disappointed. It was a music night in the bar, and yes we could here from our room.....no problem...we went down to the bar for a drink, and enjoyed. We were staying in a public house, and it was a pleasure to see the bar so full for a wednesday night. At 11.30 everything was over. We enjoyed a lincolnshire breakfast cooked and served to us by Tracey ( we even had posh sausage ). This breakfast set us up for the journey home,. really enjoyable. Tracey was really approachable and we had a laugh together.....thanks Tracey. See you again for a Saturday night music night ( and another posh sausage)

Excellent value room and an immaculate bathroom which I believe has been recently upgraded. All the usual services eg television, kettle and beverages but with a couple of enormous added extras - welcoming friendly staff, and a very talent breakfast chef. I shall definitely return as it is ideally located for my genealogy obsessed forays into the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside.... a reasonable distance from Lincoln, Louth, Grimsby and Horncastle... perfect. Oh! - and my husband says that the fact that its a pub with decent beer is great too.
