Unfortunately, our first and only experience at the White Swan was not a good one. We were not advised that there would be a band playing in the pub directly below us. The noise was unbearable and our much needed sleep was cut short. On a positive note, the lady serving our breakfast was a delight to talk to, very friendly and helpful.

We stayed at the White Swan for one night on the 9th January. We booked the morning of our visit as it was a lovely sunny winters day and we decided to take a look at Market Rasen. We were greeted by a friendly Tina who showed us to our room. The room was very comfortable and clean, everything we needed was there. Lovely bathroom, tea, coffee, T.V. and internet access.....which we didn;t need as we had come away for the night to get away from work!!! The White Swan does not provide evening meals, but this was not a problem, even in this small town there were plenty of places to eat. We chose the Gate of India, which Tina recommended, we were not disappointed. It was a music night in the bar, and yes we could here from our room.....no problem...we went down to the bar for a drink, and enjoyed. We were staying in a public house, and it was a pleasure to see the bar so full for a wednesday night. At 11.30 everything was over. We enjoyed a lincolnshire breakfast cooked and served to us by Tracey ( we even had posh sausage ). This breakfast set us up for the journey home,. really enjoyable. Tracey was really approachable and we had a laugh together.....thanks Tracey. See you again for a Saturday night music night ( and another posh sausage)

Excellent value room and an immaculate bathroom which I believe has been recently upgraded. All the usual services eg television, kettle and beverages but with a couple of enormous added extras - welcoming friendly staff, and a very talent breakfast chef. I shall definitely return as it is ideally located for my genealogy obsessed forays into the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside.... a reasonable distance from Lincoln, Louth, Grimsby and Horncastle... perfect. Oh! - and my husband says that the fact that its a pub with decent beer is great too.

I stayed at this hotel with a group of ladies (family and friends) who were on a Christmas shopping weekend (Lincoln Christmas Markets).

When I initially booked to hotel the confirmation came back from booking.com as a booking for 6 people when in actual fact it was for 7 people. I e-mailed the venue direct who were quick to confirm they had a booking for 7 not 6.

Upon contacting the hotel Tina was extremely helpful. The hotel does not do food but they were more than happy to recommend a variety of eateries and book tables for us.

The rooms were excellent. Clean, smart, beautiful bathrooms with double walk in showers, tea and coffee facilities (though no biscuits). There was not a hair dryer but this wasn't a problem because we had taken our own.

Breakfast had to be ordered the itchy before but again no problem. Breakfast was nothing short of gorgeous. We all got different breakfasts and were all equally as nice. Plenty of toast, tea and juice along with our selected breakfasts.

To top all this off it was excellent value for money. For 7 of us across 3 rooms for 1 night was just £200. An absolute bargain. Definitely be back.

We made a late decision to visit Lincoln Christmas market, and couldn't get any sensibly-priced accommodation anywhere near the city. Looking further afield, we had to go as far out as Market Rasen and opted for the White Swan, which turned out to be an excellent choice as the accommodation was comfortable and freshly furnished, and because the rail link meant we could go right into the heart of Lincoln for £5.50 each return (cheaper than the park and ride!). It is worth underlining - as others have before - that this is very much a locals' pub with rooms, rather than a hotel, and you won't get a meal here (except a fulsome breakfast, of course!). It does have a sister establishment, though - the Advocate Arms Hotel - which is billed as a 'restaurant with rooms': it's on the White Swan's doorstep and was good (and reasonably priced) enough for us to eat there twice over the weekend.

We booked two nights at The White Swan as we were attending a club event and lunch at Market Rasen races on 6th December. We arrived at 4pm on a bitterly cold afternoon but had a very warm welcome from Tina. As others have said, this is not a smart, boutique place to stay - it is a drinking pub with rooms. However, our room (No 1 which is quiet as it overlooks the car park) was spotlessly clean; very well appointed with a king sized bed. The en suite shower room was very modern with fluffy white towels and toiletries. A tea tray was supplied and fresh milk was available if you prefer. The pub dosn't do food but Tina recommended a local Indian which was excllent.
All the other staff are equally friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is cooked to order and very good, served with a smile by Tracy who has excellent local knowledge and suggested we went into Lincoln by train rather than driving, which we did and had a lovely day (ok we should have been at the races but it was cancelled because of the weather). I think we could have cancelled the 2nd night but decided to stay so happy were we with the place. Wednesday night is jamming night and it was loud but good and finished on the dot of 11. Thursday night is quiz night and we joined the locals for a fun evening. Even with help from one of the regulars we still came last but couldn't have cared less.
If you want smart with gourmet food this is not the place for you. If you want a genuine warm welcome and friendly relaxed atmosphere you will not be disappointed.
.

Room Tip: No 1 is a the back overlooking the car park and is very quiet once all the locals have left!
