“Homely Environment, and tourist leaflet corner!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2014

A Homely environment, including a piano! Lovely toilets, and access to the local tourist leaflets. I especially like the small rear courtyard, which has a small car park by it. It is a pleasant outside area to sit in with a coffee over lunch.

“Great Food, Little Pricey”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013

Came here with family for special occasion meal. Very accommodating for my two little ones too and nothing is too much trouble. Menu was a little sparse and expensive but they were running two menus, a shortened bistro one and a new xmas set menu, you weren't allowed to mix menus on the table either.

Food was absolutely lovely - could not fault one bit!

Recommend to anyone to try it out for yourself :)

“Great food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2013

Home cooked food using local produce and plenty of it. Delicious mains and comforting puds. Just like my mum used to make. No frozen chips or ready made yorkies. Every table in use or reserved meaning that this is a very popular place to enjoy a light snack or a full blown lunch. Bring it on!!

“Accessible and dog friendly- and good food too!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2013 via mobile

I came here for lunch with my father and our 2 springers, having been turfed out of another cafe in a garden centre that now doesn't allow dogs since our previous visit. Fortunately, the lady who runs the pet shop within the garden centre recommended Jossals to us and said they would make us and our dogs welcome. How right she was! Parking round the back makes it accessible for those who need it. We sat in the lovely courtyard garden at the back, sampled the legendary homemade chips with ham and egg (which lived up to the billing) and our two dogs were spoilt with their own water bowl each and the best presented meal they will ever have- sausages on their own tray, cut up and even had a garnish from their own herb garden! The staff were all really welcoming and friendly. My dad had a homemade pudding which he said was lovely. We will definitely return.

“Could be Good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

Whilst the exterior of the bistro is very attractive, the interior lacks any atmosphere and is set out like a school refectory. The garden is spacious and could be an attractive feature especially in the summer sunshine.(Visited July 2013)
The drinks were ok. The presentation, which adds to the experience, was tired. Short stumpy glasses that wouldnt have looked out of place in a 1950,s TV drama.
The food was acceptable at best.
The staff tried to be friendly but it was clearly an effort.
Would I rush to return, no!
