Best Western Burn Hall Hotel

We held our wedding at Burn Hall 01.09.12 and could not recommend this venue highly enough. Every wish and consideration was catered for without question. The room for our civil ceremony was set out beautifully with red carpet and lots of space for our guests.

The wedding breakfast was served impeccably by our Toastmaster, assistant and hotel waiting staff. Their professionalism was noted by us and our guests. They worked tirelessly to accommodate all of the details of our wedding.

The guest bedrooms were lovely, clean and tidy. The bridal suite was gorgeous with lots of room to spread out with a lovely lounge area for 'chilling'.

The bathrooms are modern and clean and to a very nice standard indeedand the bed was very comfy!

All the staff that we encountered from cleaning staff to receptionists, events managers, bar and restaurant staff and especially our toastmaster and his assistant were friently, courteous and exceptionally helpful. They all know their jobs and perform them to an impeccable standard. The Longhirst Group should be very proud of these staff and work hard to ensure that they are kept employed for a long time to come so that other people can take advantage of their knowledge and experience.

The grounds at Burn Hall are lovely. For us the sun came out on cue for our wedding photographs and also to allow the terraced area to be used for our drinks reception so the guests and ourselves could enjoy the ambience that the grounds gave our day.

On a personal note, I have been planning our wedding with Burn Hall for 18 months and any question, no matter how small or silly I thought it was, was responded to and every little attention to detail was accomodated by the events team and wedding planners.

"Outstanding Venue and Service" THANK YOU ALL AT BURN HALL for helping make our wedding day absolutely perfect.

We stayed over for a family wedding (2 kids 2 adults) we had 2 rooms (interconnecting) For only £20 extra we were able to take our family pet dog (who had a whale of a time in the gardens) We found the staff very nice and helpful, rooms lovely and clean and the food was absolutely gorgeous. We loved the breakfast, this would set up anyone on holiday for the day, plenty of choice. All in all, a great stay and we would recommend it. We will definately be revisiting.

We had read many reviews of this hotel before visiting, so we were very conciuos of the comments & expectations.
It is a real mixture.
The rooms. Are very basic, with small beds, an open wardrobe & just one drawer for storing clothes. Hardly reaching the standard of a Travel Lodge. There was only one chair in the room, & we could not obtain a twin.
The mattress was good, there was a big bath towel & the room seemed very clean.
The reception was fine & the restaurant was very good with a fine breakfast & good dinner.
it was the contrast between the rooms, very basic & the rest of the hotel that was hard to relate to. The restaurant was at a different level to the rooms & the hotel has a real problem in defining itself in the market place. At the price we paid it was good value for money, but the first impression of the rooms was very poor.
The hotel is some 10 miles north of York, with easy access to the city, with no car parking problems & a rural setting. The garden was too big for what they were trying to achieve & was on the way to a more natural setting!

Room Tip: As far as we could make out there were no good rooms. Our first request was to seek a twin room, but...

We booked a 2 night stay using an offer through Travelzoo. The room was basic yet comfortable and perfectly adequate for that length of stay. However, the food far surpassed our expectations was the service was both friendly and efficient. Pillowcases were missing on arrival but this was quickly dealt with whilst we had a drink in the well stocked bar.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable stay which we would like to repeat.

After reading some of the reviews in August I was a little apprehensive about my stay at burn hall, thankfully I had a very pleasant stay, positives: hotel reception staff very helpful and polite, very big bathroom, bar open 24 hours, good value, bar staff generous with charging, meal in restaurant nice and served quickly, they have now put toiletries in the room!
Development areas : need more staff when hotel at full capacity, they struggled to cope with amount of people and we waited 30 mins for tea that didn't arrive, room sizes are small - tv size smaller
So all in all a pleasant stay, just bare in mind the cost of a room about £50 so don't expect a posh stately home, it's more of a family run b&b type thing but bigger

My girlfriend and I booked in for 2 nights in August 2012 on a special promotion of breakfasts, evening meal/wine and room. Amazing value and food. Staff are very helpful. The hotel is in a very quiet, slightly out of the way, location. This suited us as we wanted a chilled out break.
A car is essential..we went into York and the Rawcliffe Park and Ride is excellent. As is the Hungry Horse Pub nearby. Amazing steaks and value for money.
Only criticism was out of the hotel`s contol..a fire alarm went off at 2:15a.m..zzzzzzzzzzz. Then again when we were trying to get to sleep.
A great stay and one we will definitely repeat!
