“A great day out”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

This is the second time we have been to this Museum and although it was a memorable occasion the first time it has come on so much it is now incredible The exhibits are amazing including Concorde there are Helicopters massive model aircraft carriers and all other types of planes used by our Fleet Air arm
Highlight of the museum has to be the tour of the 1970s HMS Ark Royal believe me kids young and old thought this was brilliant
One particular mention is that this Museum has been designed to be as user friendly as possible to the physically challenged amongst us from car parks to easily accessible lifts it is very easy to get around so a very big vote of thanks for that

“Great Museum”
Reviewed May 14, 2013

Had all the ingredients to make it a memorable visit, well signed, plenty of parking and informative staff. All the exhibits have plenty of history attached, we particularly liked the 'visit to The Ark Royal' it was quite realistic. all in all a great day!

“Generally Excellent but Flight Simulator is "Pants"”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

Easy access to facility with free parking. If you "gift aid" the entry fee you can return to the museum within the next year. This is really essential as there is so much to see in only one visit.
Well laid out halls with excellent visual displays although the flight simulator (£2 extra per person) was disappointing. This is basically being in a helicopter taking off and landing on a carrier. There were no grab rails for support within the unit and for a duration of 5 mins we thought that this was a bit of a rip off. Be aware that the Concord is one of the experimental aircraft and is not fitted out as the plane was in service.

“Great Museum With Good Interactivity”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

It has probably been 30-years since I last visited and clearly money has been spent and technology has come on in leaps and bounds. As a ten year old in the 1970s just being close to the real planes and helicopters was enough but kids of today want more, which is why things like the Carrier Experience with its quite realistic helicopter ride (you'll see) and flight deck landing & recovery sequences are exciting "shows" to put on. The control rooms of this attraction are real lumps of the Ark Royal - this is no reconstruction using modern materials - and clever use of TV screens and automatic bulk head doors take you on a trip into the world of the navy aviators.

Lots and lots to see - don't miss the kamikazee exhibit and of course Concorde No.002 - if you have never been near or on a Concorde it is a surprising thing

Finally, the restaurant is great value - quality food at reasonable prices - which is refreshing to find when some museums choose to overcharge captive tourists for tea & a bun

“Take your Camera”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

Great day out, not as big as I had thought four hours seemed enough time to complete. Try the 'Carrier' attraction and make sure you go on the bridge, this part of the tour can be missed as the main attraction seems to be the flight deck. The rest of the halls are packed with planes, a bit disappointing that most had the wings folded up. Clean nice restaurant, good prices for what looked liked home cooked food.
If you love planes, well worth a visit and good value.
