Arriving on a freezing cold day to find that the normal blazing fires were being cleaned was not a good start. The staff were attentive and helpful as ever and anxious to please. Having eaten at the Boot before we were initially disappointed to find that the set lunch menu was rather limited and we were chilly. However, the house wine was a good start ( a free glass with the set menu ) and everything changed when the food arrived.
The food at the Boot is excellent in every way. Our spirits lifted with each mouthful. Faultless. A request for an additional cheese platter brought a superb board that included oat cakes, grapes and chutney, just as one would wish. Even a simple dessert of waffles with ice cream and maple syrup was of rare quality.
For a sophisticated yet rustic ambience with marvellous food and friendly attentive staff the Boot is hard to beat.
I believe it is part of a Warwickshire group of similar country establishments. More investigation is justified.
