“Bonfire Night”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2013

Visited for The Boot's highly renowned Bonfire Night, and the event exceeded my already high expectations.

It was incredibly well attended, with both inside and outside spaces bustling with customers. Very efficient service at the outside bars considering how many people were around. The bonfire and fireworks were superb, creating a great atmosphere around the place as the evening went on. There was a tee-pee with a band that entertained throughout, and the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Enjoyed a late meal in the restaurant, and all of our food was of a very high standard. The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere inside matched it out. Great night enjoyed by us all and would thoroughly recommend it.

“Bonfire Night”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2013

Decided to give the bonfire a go at the boot this year. we had heard it was usually busy so decided to go early which was a good tactic! great set up and food was delicious family friendly. service was good even though it was so busy drinks and food came on time and the staff were so friendly and helpful. great time was had by all. I live locally and always after the boot bonfire night there is alot of litter thrown all up the side of the road! (makes the place look very untidy) on my way to work the next morning, fair play to the chap who was cleaning up the road and taking empty glasses back to the boot, as it was cold and miserable and I could see he was doing the boot proud! well done sir!

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2013

I have always enjoyed the Boot at Lapworth - the food, service and ambiance has always been first class so it is disappointing to have a meal that fell below the normal expected standards.
The meal last Saturday was with a group of friends and I know a number said it was not as good as expected. We didn't say anything at the time as it was booked by another member of the party and a birthday celebration.
My starter was delicious but some grit remained in the scallops, my ribeye steak cooked as requested but was very chewy. I hadn't realised that others had been disappointed too.
I can only hope it was a one-off because I really like the place.

“Fireworks night”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

Came here for the locally famous fireworks night.
Arrived early as we knew it would be busy. The damp wet weather was expected as it is November.
Whet we did not expect:
Terrible underpouring of pints and attitude when we asked then to top the pints up.
Everything was running late, we waited for the BBQ to start at 5.30pm as advertised, it actually started at 6.30 pm with a 45 minute que.
At £5 a burger you would obviously expect gourmet food, it was luke warm at best. The veggie burger was "beef" and when it was eventually changed the burger was literally a "mushroom" burger.

Generally a shocking time had by all.

The fireworks however were fantastic, probably because another company did them.

Thank you James P for your feedback and truly disappointed to read your review.
We were overwhelmed with the popularity of the event and we appear to have fallen down in certain areas, such as the arrival of the BBQ team, who were unseemly delayed and the busy bar staff due to the numbers of guests arriving. We used the same burgers as we normally do in the restaurant and if the heads on the pints were too large, we would normally have immediately topped them up, without question and the attitude delivered to you was not of our standards
I have dropped you an email to make contact with the GM.

“Just wish they had an outlet near me. ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013 via mobile

We had booked lunch for our group of 15 many months ago. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to find the staff and premises superbly decorated for Halloween. All the staff looked great as was the restaurant. All our party really enjoyed the food. To please 15 foodies is saying something. My pheasant was excellent. Top class premises. They are a very busy operation. If you get good food cooked properly in a very busy premises then you can't expect expect the food to come out fast. If you want that then consider a MacDonald's.
