Personal, professional attention throughout; from initial phone enquiry to check-in and departure. Comparative top 'value for money' - more than just ££s!. A leafy urban location, free parking, excellent transport hub for Birmingham (30' frequent train), excellent restaurant (AA 2 Rosettes) plus attentive service with added bonus of small hotel for 1-2-1 communication. Popular 'local' establishment in evening too.
Rooms spacious and individual - as part of original Victorian building; lots of 'character' but sufficiently modernised to be comfortable. Some further 'updating' needed & would add to the experience.
Minor issues ( a couple of non-functioning room fittings ) dealt with 'honestly and efficiently' with straight-forward, confident action & apology.
Would recommend and re-visit at any time.

I have to be careful not to go on too much or my fingers will go numb! After a beautiful wedding at St Patricks in Earlswood, the Forest was our reception venue.

We looked at plenty of local venues before we chose The Forest, The Forest was actually the first out of 5 that we arrived at one Saturday morning, my first comment.....we're not coming here, there are no grounds, no extravagent backdrop, no helipad lol, (not that we needed one) ....but we had a walk around looked at the rooms available and moved on.

Little did I know the impact of The Forest on my subconscious!

Having been to venues with amazing grounds, separate outdoor evening sections, elaborate gardens, bridges and wishing wells, we weighed up the prices, we weighed up the packages, we weighed up the weather possibilities, but more importantly .......we weighed up the feel........The Forest won, big time, low ceilings, individual styling in every room, this place just felt like a home from home, and the skylights in the function rooms just added that extra dimension.

Pre wedding planning with the owner was perfect, and I am going to get my one and only negative out of the way, after being sold the wedding, and even on the day, we did not see her again, I think that would have been nice to have a congrats from the management of The Forest, maybe you can make it up for our anniversary on May 10th 2015?

The day was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

We had to dodge a bit of weather, but there were no major problems during the wedding breakfast, apart from I had to get a top up on our half filled toast glasses on the top table, ( everybody else's were full) barman said the waitress took them before he had finished (I still had to go up though, which was not nice leaving the top table for that)

Food- not going to spoil it for future guests, .....our guests said it was "the best food they have ever had at a wedding" -but we knew this would be the case from our taster meal and previous nights at the restaurant.

Staff were fantastic, the day was led with kind professionalism, - transition from day to night was not even noticeable.

Then we danced the night away, memory diminishes slightly from here .........

Bedrooms - very comfortable, very spacious, but I must say, too expensive, this leads me on to the included breakfast -

We had a lot of vegetarian guests that were catered for at the wedding breakfast, but at breakfast were told they could just have extra eggs....,not a vegetarian sausage in sight, also for the price of the bedrooms, which it think should lower by at least a quarter, the breakfast was very small, and not even beans in a full English, which is such a small thing, but it was actually commented on by everyone at breakfast!

That is essentially my overview, now I know that a review for trip advisor should be both fair and truthful and also relevant, with information usable by both the venue and the potential customer......so I will summarise with the following

The Forest Hotel - Thank you so much for a fantastic wedding reception, your staff were incredible, they were attentive, considerate, professional, and hard working, hats off to you for employing the passionate staff that you have, give them a pay rise - your room rates should cover it! get some beans in your breakfast and a couple of Quorn sausages in the freezer!! He he xxx

I say all this with the lightest of hearts, as I and also my new wife loved every minute of our time with you, but coming from hospitality and a slight observance of our guests, I hope that you see our more negative comments as something you can take forward, albeit small compared to your outstanding quality, but I would love it if improvements on our discrepancies made you number one as far as you can reach.

Thank You very very much xxx

What a fantastic title to your review, we give 100% to wedding organisation here and are so glad that we helped to create your perfect day ,although I cannot take any credit for the weather!
Thank you for your constructive comments, I am sorry I could not be there myself but it sounds as if my experienced team did a good job in my absence. See you in May 2015 and lots of luck for your future, Kindest regards, Tracy

We stayed here for one night on our way to Manchester and had a fantastic stay. The room was clean, smart and we had a good night's sleep. We also dined in the restaurant, after reading a recommendation in the Good Food Guide. It was a fabulous meal - each dish was beautifully presented and tasted delicious, especially the duck pie that I enjoyed. The service delivered by all staff members that we encountered was friendly and professional without being intrusive. We had gone for the bed, breakfast and dinner package which was amazing value and one I would highly recommend, indeed I would highly recommend this venue to anybody, we had such a nice time.

Organised a birthday celebration in the Olive room and I can't think of a better venue. Smart hotel and immaculate amenities. Had enormous help from the staff, especially Gill who was extremely patient as I made several changes along the way and she advised me on all of the details I was unsure about. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, either before or during the party. I felt valued as a customer and that my party was as important to them, as it was to me. Wouldn't think of organising an event anywhere else.

We had a business meeting in the claret room. Very friendly, good service, good food. A smart hotel suitable for weddings and meetings. The room is quite spacious, although no windows it was ideal for a half day meeting. Would use again.

Room Tip: We did not stay the night but the claret room is good for a meeting of up to 10 people

From booking in to leaving after breakfast 3 days later nothing was too much trouble for hotel staff. Room was great, wedding venue was lovely. As with previous review this is the first I have done but felt that the friendly but professional manner of all staff warranted a mention

Room Tip: Not sure about other rooms but ours was spacious, very clean and comfortable

I am not normally a writer of reviews but wanted to say thanks to the Forest Hotel and it's staff for a wonderful day.
I organised a family get together with many members flying in from different countries. We booked the Claret room for 28 of us on Easter Sunday.
The food (Easter Sunday lunch menu) was absolutely fabulous ! Every single member of our party were extremely impressed with the quality (Thanks, Chef !!), attention to detail and the great service.
As it was quite a complicated affair to coordinate the 28 person get together, I was assisted by Gill who did everything to make sure every detail was taken care of. (Thanks, Gill !!)
The staff on the day were also very pleasant, welcoming and efficient !

The best surprise was when i then received the bill ! I consider the experience vs the price to be an absolute bargain !!

We will definitely be back again in the future !
