“good for airport”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

Easy to find and close to the airport this was an ideal hotel for us. It was undergoing renovations which meant that the restaurant was closed and the tv was a little out of date but apart from that it was ok. We needed to leave by 7am for the airport and the receptionist said no problem and informed us that it was continental breakfast only anyway due to the renovations. True to her word breakfast was ready and waiting at 6.15 and we could help ourselves to whatever we wanted. It was more than sufficient for us. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

we stayed over for 1 night and was disappointed, our double room's bathroom door didn't close, the cups were dusty and the room was very dated. We went to reception and asked to be moved much to the annoyance of the receptionist who gave us a suite room priced at £140! the room was not worth half! the matress was uncomfortable feeling all the springs, the tv with only four channels, and generally an uncomfortable night with doors slamming and the function room music blurring. The breakfast was not the full breakfast we thought we were getting, but now had limited choice of toast and fruit. The breakfast room lacked atmosphere (most ppl looked tired!), and the male whose I guessed was the manager didn't greet the guests. overall disappointing thank goodness we got it cheaper thought booking.com

i feel that the rack rate of £89.00 for a single for 1 night b and b displayed in the hotel reception is a bit steep, along with an overpriced cup of coffee at £2.25 which,in all purposes came off a standard drinks machine whch wouldnt look out of place in a works canteen!!!!observed a man checking in yesterday at 17.30 july 15th 2014.he was hungry but was informed the restaurant was closed for refurbishment, and was informed there was a pub over the road,(obviously referring to the bulls head)for people that are local.
it begs me to feel where infact the breakfast would be served, logically i would have thought that to be the restaurant????im puzzled???
i think ill stick to the bulls head for my coffee in future, sorry starwberry but youre not upto scratch in afraid..

When we arrived at reception we were told there was a problem with our room. Apparently the previous guests had disappeared in the morning and didn't come back to the hotel until mid afternoon. When they were told the room was needed and they should have checked out before 11 o'clock they were quite adamant that they needed a shower and time to pack. The receptionist was very apologetic and to our delight upgraded us to a suite. The room was clean, nice white towels, lots of hot water and a comfy bed. The only down side was that every time you went outside the main reception entrance there always seemed to be a group of men with mugs of tea and smoking cigarettes that you had to walk through. Also at the moment there seems to be quite a lot of renovation work in progress which we were not told about but didn't affect us to badly as we only stayed one night. Breakfast was continental as the kitchen and restaurant were closed.

My wife and l visited the Strawberry Bank Hotel Restaurant to celebrate my birthday. It has been some considerable time since our last visit there and whilst the service was very good the menu choice offered now was very limited and not at all inspiring. The staff were very friendly and the food was OK. It looks as though it will be some considerable time again before we make a further visit.

Stayed here for one night on 01 July 2014.

Bit apprehensive following reading up on a couple of reviews but the room was cheap having booked via trivago (less than £40)

Ample parking outside and location was very good for where I needed to be i.e. Meriden. Meriden good location near the NEC and all Motorway links in area.

Check in was straight forward, Key to the room supplied was an actual physical key on a huge keyring which was something I'd not seen for some decades when staying in hotels. Room was booked as a single but was given a double room which was very clean but resembled something from the 70s with floral prints on the bedding, an olive bathroom and a 14inch box of a TV in the room which was tiny. View overlooked a big garden with no noise from any passing traffic which was good so it was very quiet.

Bed was too soft for my liking and probably due to its age not matress springs but was adequate.

Restaurant and bar was closed due to apparent refurbishment work although no sign of any construction onsite taking place. I didn't eat onsite although looking at the menu the 2 for 1 offer was a 2 for 1 when you had to add £2.50 to your original meal which appeared to be a bit strange.

One item of frustration was lack of mobile and no WiFi connectivity.

Breakfast was included in the price but was very basic. Only continental was available due to the kitchen in the pub next door being refurbished but based on the waiting on staff experience I got the impression this was just a typical day as nothing had been laid out.

Would stay here again as it was clean if I couldn't find anywhere else at short notice in the area.

Came for a meal for my moms birthday to a tired and run down what they call restaurant! Was seated without been asked what we would like to drink, throughout the whole meal we had to go to the bar ourselves go get our drinks! When we finally got round to ordering steak we where then told there is none! Why wasn't we told this on arrival? Also when we asked who I assume was the manager (abrupt and lacked a smile) was told that as we are a table of 12 we should have pre ordered our food? We weren't told to do so when booking the table! I also feel that a group of 12 isn't a large group! Throughout the whole meal the waitresses/waiter looked scared to approach the tables! Also when we tried to get a waitresses attention she saw us and ran back into the kitchen! Service is embarrassing in this place and I certainly will not be returning!
