“Sunday Roast with an Extra”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

The other Sunday our daughter came over to stay for a few days. She does not eat meat but will eat fish, but it was with some doubt I booked to have lunch at the Mallyan Hotel, who major on their carvery on Sundays. I had no cause to regret my choice as there was a good selection of Veggie food to select from and daughter was very pleased with her choice of Whitby Scampi and chips.
The bonus however was the great quality of the meats on offer at the carvery. I had turkey but the beef and pork were hard not to pick! This was also the case with the veg. on offer, and here I went for the full selection. All were excellent as was the Yorkshire Pudding.
It won't be long before I am back for more.

“The best Sunday roast I have had for a long time!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2013

Six of us shared a Sunday roast carvery on Easter Sunday. The food was delicious and plentiful and the service was excellent. It was all home cooked, including the desserts and it was so tasty? Post lunch we retired to one of the lounges and sat in front of a real fire drinking tea and coffee. Overall the prices were extremely reasonable and we were so impressed that we are looking to go back for a weekend stay

“Nice bar food served in a friendly atmosphere - quieter than central Goathland”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2013

At the far end of Goathland away from the main hub of the Hearbeat trippers. It was Easter Sunday and we nipped in for bar food which ranged from nice looking sandwiches to small cooked food - fishcakes etc. Small snug bar, with service also being offered in main lounge. The tables are quite close together so not suitable for an intimate chat. Friendly service, nice local ale. Restaurant looked good and well used but didn't try it. Go for a stroll to the Mallyan Spout itself along the path just beside the hotel - can get muddy and involves steps down and climbing over some rocks at the end so no good for pushchairs or the infirm but a lovely little glen and waterfall if you have the chance to go there.
