“Warm friendly atmospheric value for money and delicious food.”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

We visited the gallery today and were welcomed by friendly staff who tended to our every need. The food was well presented and there was plenty of it,and was superb value for money ! Cakes were all homemade and absolutely delicious we even took scones home for tea as they do a take out service. There are loads of arts and crafts to buy which are a great gift idea ! What a great addition to Bedale.

“Lovely little cafe but could be great with a few tweaks...”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

Firstly let me start by saying that this is a lovely little cafe, very nicely set out, lots of artwork and gifts to look at/buy and the food really is lovely. However, it could be great with a few tweaks...

When we visited today we were warmly greeted by the only person in today who was waiting for her part timer to turn up who was late and she was therefore on her own, and she was also looking after a toddler at the same time! Not ideal really especially when 7 hungry people need feeding! It took approximately 45-minutes for 2 paninis, a jacket potato and 4 scones to arrive which is just too long when you only have half an hour for your lunch break! Timing aside though, the food when it did arrive was lovely...it just needed to be a bit quicker please :)

The service, although very slow, was good...we were brought free samples to taste whilst waiting for our food to arrive, which was very much appreciated as we were all very hungry by this time! To give her her due, we did think the lady in charge managed very well under trying circumstances however when you are on a time limit you do need lunch much faster!

It wasn't overly warm inside either on what hasn't been the warmest of days, a degree or two higher on the thermostat wouldn't have gone amiss..it was a bit 'parky' to say the least!

Overall though, this is a lovely little cafe, serving lovely, reasonable priced food in a nicely decorated setting - however - with enough staff and a bit of coal in the boiler it could be great!

“What a hidden gem!”
Reviewed November 7, 2011

We visited The Bridge Gallery in Bedale for lunch and I had to write a review, this place is so great, its only new (i think its been there just a few months) having 2 children I chose it on the basis that it has 5 stars (so you know you wont get tummy ache after visiting!) we live locally and we have tried all the other tea rooms in the area so we thought it would be nice to try somewhere new, we took our 2 young children with us, they had a childrens menu and gave the kids some colouring sheets and pencils which was great to keep them entertained. My husband and I had paninis which were £3.95 each and they came on a big plate with loads of salad and crisps, I had chocolate cake and it was to die for! My husband had the fruit cake and he said it was really nice and the kids were impressed with the brownies. It was very reasonable for everything we had (around £20 for 2 kids meals, 2 adult meals and 4 desserts) it seemed to be a really popular place with lots of people coming in for lunch and I think it may become a regular haunt of ours. We usually end up at mcdonalds for lunch on a saturday as its the only place locally offering a decent value for money thats child friendly so we are really glad we have found this place - gives us a healthier option!
