We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights during August 2013 as part of a holiday - my overall conclusion about this hotel is that it was very, very good. It is important to remember that this is basically a boutique hotel which has 34 rooms and hence the USP of this hotel is the staff. They are mega friendly and attentive to your every need: an example of this is that they will bring you drinks, hot towels and fruit while you lounge around the pool. Moreover, they make an active effort to talk to you - at many top-end hotels it seems to me that the staff are well drilled in delivering the best service they can. Case del Mar achieves this amazing level of service by encouraging their staff to converse with you and to ask about your holiday/where you are from etc. This really gives the hotel its personality.

The room itself was fantastic and a great size. In the rooms it is the little touches which make the stay really special (home-made cookies, peanuts, the turn-down service, the choice of pillows, overhead shower). It was very clean - one point was we felt the bed was a little short (I'm 6 foot plus) but could easily get over this.

The location is great at the end of a busy beach. The hotel itself has its own cordoned off bit of water and beach space and so this was great to relax in (if you can tear yourself away from the pool). The food in the local area is also great (Orchid Rea a couple of mins down the round is especially good for seafood) and is pretty cheap when you get off resort.

We ate at the hotel for 1 evening and then an a la carte breakfast which is included. Breakfast had a wide range of choices (fruit, yogurt, healthy choices as well) but we didn't feel that the breakfast was anything more than good. The restaurant on the other hand is amazing - the food magnificent and we really recommend it. It is also worth pointing out that the hotel does offer a "private dinner" (7 courses with wine for around £250 per couple), now, we didn't do this, however we noted that the private dinner is setup for you about 5 metres away from the restaurant and we can imagine it is slightly weird having your "private dinner" but being visible to the whole restaurant, the whole public beach and probably being able to hear what all the other tables are saying. I can't comment on the food (although I bet it was good) but if you're looking for something special and a bit more private then maybe go for the Castaway picnic that the hotel offers.

My girlfriend also had a spa treatment and said it was amazing and well priced considering the length of time and how good it was.

In terms of value for money this hotel is expensive (spa-apart) but we felt that it justified this. We also stayed in the Andaman previous to this which was an entirely different experience (which is what you get when you compare a 34 roomed hotel to one with 500 rooms plus) and we felt both were excellent. The Casa del Mar tips it for me though because of the service, the outstanding little touches and the fact that it is in a busy little spot with lots of do on the beach and lots to do in the evening - would definately come again.

Room Tip: We stayed in Bambu and it was amazing - to be honest it looked at if all the rooms would be good (as...

After staying in Kuala Lumpur for 1 week a three day stay at the Casa del Mar was the perfect place to relax!
The hotel certainly lived up to the reviews on TA and my expectations.
We pre arranged a collection from the airport ( though, slightly late) the transfer only took 10 mins.
On arrival we were warmly greeted and given lovely refreshing drinks & cool towels.
Effortless check- in with a guided tour of the hotel & then shown to our room (Bambu).
This room is over the restaurant & bar and I was slightly concerned about noise levels?
This didn't cause any problems, with only minimal noise.
We loved our room, with a very comfortable 4 poster bed, huge terrace and lots of extras. The bathroom was huge & immaculately clean - very nice toiletries too.
The bar & restaurant were excellent with super staff who couldn't do enough for you. It was so nice that some of the staff remembered our names and greeted us that way!
The food was delicious, beautifully cooked & presented. We particularly enjoyed our evening meal sat on the beach!
Breakfast again was extremely varied & well thought out.
The pool & surrounding areas were immaculate with plenty of sun beds available. The little touches of ice lollies, fruit kebabs, ice cold towels & iced water jugs were very much appreciated.
The sea kayak was another plus - free for hotel guests.
The proximity of the hotel to the beach is also a plus, literally on the beach!
Checkout was quick & efficient with the receptionist providing us with bottled water for our journey. It is these little extras that go a long way to making this hotel a class above others....I can't recommend Casa del Mar enough and so look forward to staying there again!

My husband and I stayed here as part of our honeymoon a couple of weeks ago and booked it based on the excellent reviews on tripadvisor. We had a fantastic holiday and felt that the high level of customer service from the staff made our trip extra special. The breakfast staff are polite and friendly as are the bar staff. As others have mentioned, the minty cold towels, fruit and iced water by the pool and on the beach are lovely touches. I especially liked having our room turned down in the evening and having a scented bookmark left on my pillow. We had some excellent meals in the restaurant although one was slightly disappointing only due to the fact that it was under seasoned. Cocktails are also excellent and generous on the spirits!
I also visited the spa for a massage and this was fantastic. Very professional but personal at the same time. Additionally breakfast was super - great choice of buffet and cooked options. All in all, if returning to Langkawi I wouldn't hesitate to book here again.

We id some homework before travelling to Langkawi and we were certainly rewarded as everything we had heard about Casa Del Mar proved true. From the moment of check in to to checkout we were treated as VIP's. Nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful staff and the smiles and waves we received throughout the day from ALL staff were genuine and made us feel very special indeed. The special touches such as ice water and melon kebabs delivered to out beach lounges without even having to ask went above and beyond. We ate on the beach (La Sal) each night, another memorable experience.
We have already put into action our plans to return next year, and of course we'll be staying at Casa Del Mar.

Room Tip: Would recommend the Beachfront Studio Suite as it's a little more private and right on the beach...

We stayed 8 nights at this great little hotel and could have stayed another 8. I booked completely on the strength of the trip advisor reviews and was not disappointed. I don't enjoy big impersonal flashy resorts - so Casa Del Mar was perfect. The staff were fantastic the entire time - from Jack keeping us lubricated at the bar, to Tom the manager offering great advice on tours and restaurants. I didn't even see the room guy - that's how good they are! Cool Towels, ice -water and fresh fruit delivered to your sun-lounge was just divine and homemade cookies in your room was a really nice touch.
Breakfasts were good and varied and we dined at La Sal a few times during our stay and this was definately the pick of the area - , cloth, candlelight, feet in the sand dining - there's nothing better.
The location was great (we were there during Hari Raya - which I didn't realise when I booked) so the beach was packed down further, but not near this hotel - lots of jet ski's though.
The location means you are able to check out other bars, restaurants and do a little shopping, unlike most other resorts which are isolated and require a taxi to go anywhere.
We had a fantastic time in Langkawi and this was mainly due to our experience at Casa Del Mar. Will definately be back.

Room Tip: We stayed in a 'regular' room which was nice,, but would definately go for the beachfront st...

This is probably the best place my husband and I have stayed outside of the UK, and we are pretty well travelled, visiting more than 10 countries in the past 3 years we have been together. The service was exceptional from the moment we arrived and were greated with comfy chairs in reception, a cool mint scented facecloth and some kind of refresing drink. We were then offered a tour of the facilities before being shown to our room where everything was explained to us. It's the little touches that make this place special - the face spritz in the bathroom, the fact that (unlike where we stayed in Sarawak) 2 pool towels each plus plenty of bath towels, a choice of pillows and an explanation of each, a little gift from the spa (from which we availed of their 4 hr pamper session - also fantastic). We took as much advantage as we had time to, of the experiences on offer, all of which were brilliant. The first night we had La Luna (private dinner on the beach) - food was excellent and on a par (in my view) with what I had had 2 weeks earlier at Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons (2 michelin stars). Our waitress Jiha was also a very kind and courteous host, nothing was too much trouble and she was very friendly. The following day she called out to me in the street to ask if we had enjoyed our castaway picnic (also arranged through the hotel and also fabulous) - because this is a boutique, you get the feeling the staff really care, which was further emphasised by the invitation from Tom the GM, to join him at the pool bar for champagne and beer. This was continuously topped up for at least 45 minutes and Tom made a point of introducing all the guests by their nationalities as well as thanking several members of staff. It really did feel very genuine and also the fact that you frequently see him 'getting his hands dirty' with the staff, shows how much this place is cared about the staff seem to genuinely enjoy working here. We truly wish we could have stayed longer and if the world wasn't such a big place, we would want to return year after year!

Hotel us situated at the quiet end of a beautiful beach. Beach is a little busy further down but that didn't interfere with our holiday. There are also water sports allowed on the beach which is a plus or minus. The hotel itself is wonderful. Staff could not be friendlier or more accommodating. Excellent cocktail bar selling fresh cocktails at £4 each. Lunch and dinner menus were good and there are plenty of other places to eat nearby. Loved the fact out room looked straight onto the beach. We chose this over the Datai which is on the north coast. We visited that hotel and found the rooms were quite a walk from the pool and beach albeit the bay was much more secluded and arguably better. If you are honeymooners who don't intend leaving your hotel choose the Datai. If you want a varied choice of restaurants go for casa del mar
