My husband, 2 kids and I travelled up to Johor and we stayed 2 night with city star hotel. We were pretty much enjoyed our stay with this little-outside-but-big-inside hotel. The staffs were extremely friendly and very helpful provided us up-to-date information when we requested some info to the Johore premium outlet, and some local dining area.

We stayed in suite room, it was huge and has a nice sitting area, big space for kids to play around in room. Shower experience was awesome, as the hotel claimed it "power shower". Beds were very comfortable. We did not expect extra toiletries to be provided as the money we paid was absolutely a great deal. The hotel has putting effort by ensuring all areas in the premise is well kept and CLEAN.

We strongly recommend this hotel to everyone who plan to visit kulai.

I was in Kulai for an event. I decided to stay at this hotel since it's only a few km away from the venue of my event. Unfortunately after i check in, i got an emergency call from home. I'm in the room for just about 30 minutes or less. I asked them whether i can get my money back, or maybe half from it. The answer is NO! I'm so disappointed. I don't want to argue since i really need to rush. They took my money without me enjoying the services.

The room is below expectation compared to what u see in their website (citystarhotel.wordpress.com). I dunno why this budget hotel need to be soooo "budget". The LCD TV (as they claimed), was bought at the pawn shop I guess. The TV look dated with the TV channels was so blurry and dark. With the price I paid,I can get a way better room at U & Me Hotel, Country Inn or Kulai City Inn. The best thing is, they much more cheaper than this hotel.

Avoid this hotel!!

For local travellers n also backpackers arriving late at night before going into Singapore , consider this Hotel for a night stay before you drive into Spore.( 30 minutes drive to Tuas / 2nd Link ) And 10 minutes drive to the newly opened ( dec 2011 ) Johore Premier Outlet ( JPO )
For USD25 you get a clean and comfortable room. This is a budget hotel , a goodnight sleep and good shower. The common area is large with large TV , etc. Neighbour is a ' Mamak ' restaurant , clean and sells a decent meal. On your way to Spore , drop by the JPO . All you need is 10 minutes , there is nothing worth buying at JPO , its small and sells ' old stocks '

Room Tip: All rooms are standard. There are only 3 floors , so take the 3rd floor , just a short walk thru the stairs .
