“A superb place for rest and relaxation?????”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

We booked and paid for this hotel for 10 nights, for rest and relaxation, after time in KL.

The website promises a romantic serene place for couples, so was just what we were looking for, or so we thought.

On arrival, we were met with the sight and sounds of a JCB digger, building the sea defence wall.

The fairytale turrets on the roof of the hotel, have not been blue for a long long time, and were black and running with rust. We asked the manager when the photo on the website had been taken, and he said it was before the hotel had even been built!!!

We were shown to our "deluxe" room. Photos on the website show a light airy room with fresh flowers, the reality - a tiny room with mould on the walls, and windows that will open 3 inches to enjoy the "sea view" (complete with building work).

The Nautilus restaurant for "under the stars dining" was flat to the ground, as it was being completely re-built. So unless you were happy with a dingy little arabic "restaurant" in the far corner of the garden, you had to go out to eat.

The surrounding area was very dreary, with boarded up shops and restaurants, in fact the whole area, along with the hotel, needs knocking down and building again.

There is no access to any beach close by, and after all, you go to Langkawi for the beautiful white beaches, the closest was 25 minutes away by taxi.

The pool area looked nice enough, but it didn't appear that mattresses or towels were provided for the loungers, although to be fair, we didn't stay around long enough to ask, but the constant work of the digger would have meant that you would not be able to relax there at all.

I had picked up a leaflet on Langawi hotels while in KL, and was quite worried when this hotel had not got any star rating, but thought it really couldn't be that bad - it was!!!! It does not deserve even a half star rating.
Needless to say, we checked in on Tuesday morning, checked out 3 hours later, and booked into another hotel on the beach at Pentai Chenang.

My advice, do not believe anything the website says about this hotel, it is a dreary, depressing place with rude staff and management, when we dared to complain about the standard (or lack of it) If you do want to give it a try, do not pay before arrival, as we did, assess the place, and see if you think it deserves your hard earned money.

Room Tip: Book a different hotel!!!!!!

The hotel is current undergoing renovations. It is very tired and rundown. Breakfast is very basic. However, you can ask for additional food. I asked for a sliced tomato to put on my toast, no problem. The location is remote and the town of Kuah is looking very sad there are hundreds of closed shops. It is half hour into the main beach area which was a little better. Overall it is dearer than Thailand and Bali with not as much variety. I should have shopped in Petaling St Markets Kuala Lumpar.
The staff are good free wifi poor you must sit in the foyer.

Me & my boyfriend stayed for 4 days 3 night in this hotel in end of 2008 Only now I started writing reviews on tripadvisor thats why the delay of posting. Upon arrival, we were attracted by the Castle like outlook of the hotel. The Hotel has greenly gardens with a fairy tale look to it. I found that this location is good with sea-front facing. But there is no access to the beach. Restaurant and bar down by pool looked good. The red wine we bought was so nice. The buffet breakfast was unsatisfactory since there were limited selection. But, one can get good local food just about a ten minute walk away from this hotel. Some of the staff was not very friendly & helpfull. Overall it is a good place to stay, still a lot of area needs improving!!!

What a great story-book hotel this Bella Vista is. With high towers with blue roofs you can spot it kilometers away. The rooms are spacious. Especially the apartments. We had a two bedroom apartment with two bathrooms, a small kitchen area and a living room with a balcony. It was cleaned daily and we had fresh towels and sheets as well. You can make free tea and coffee and there is an ironing board and a fridge.

The breakfast is enormous. You can choose among Malay, Chinese, Thai, Indian, and Western food. It is all Delicious.

A short walk to the pool. Beautiful scenery and the water is clean and the pool is too. There is a bar and a restaurant there when you get thirsty or hungry.

There is wifi in the lobby. Too bad not in the rooms. But maybe it is good not to be surfing all the time.

A short 5 minutes and you are in the town. You can search out small restaurants. Almost anything you want you can find. Also the shopping centers are near-by and the prices are great for clothes and electronics.

We have been there twice before and are going back again in October. Can't wait to get back there.

It is always a sad day when the vacation is over :-(

The breakfast is served on the mezzanine floor, just above the reception. The hotel is having an excellent heritage look which we liked. Breakfast spread was good. quality of food was also good. Staffs were pretty supportive.

This hotel is in a good location, very near to the Eagle Square, in the Kuah town. Lots of shops, etc. are there, in 5 mins walking distance.
Overall a good experience to stay!!

Room Tip: Prefer to book the rooms in the front side of the hotel, having sea/garden facing rooms. Probably al...

after reading the reviews here, I was worried if it was a bad decision but we were pleasantly surprised by the hotel or maybe the location was so nice we overlooked any other issues, except there was no internet access from the room.

Stuffs are help full and food was quiet good.

If you are in for nice view and will be running around this hotel would be fine for you

i stayed at bella vista in june. i had booked this property before going thru the reviews because it was one of the cheapest property available at the time. after booking it i read the reviews and got little worried because i was travelling with family and didnt want them to face any trouble.

we were allotted an apartment. very spacious. two bedrooms, two bathrooms one huge realy huge drawing room one small room with referigerator. view from the room specially the master bed room was very good. rooms and washrooms were very clean. the water heaters were working perfectly and the towels were very clean.

there was an electrical ketttle with daily repleshment of tea and coffee. the breakfast was very good. almost like a 5 star hotel. the lobby the pool are also very impressive. overall great place for families and couples to stay. i saw a room in the main wing meant for 2 people and it was really nice.

food in the hotel is little expensive but just outside the gate there is a whole food stree which opens in the late evenings and are open till wee hours. there is a kfc just 5 minutes walk away. a laundry 10 minutes walk away and a huge mall with multiplex and duty free shops 5 minutes away.

only complaint i have is that while one bedroom and the drawing room has independent ac other bedroom has a fan only.

very good value for the money u pay.

Room Tip: for couples or individuals rooms facing sea are good for families apartments are excellent value
