Just back from a 3 night short break in a static caravan at Tummel Valley. The van was fantastic - best we've had so we were extremely lucky to get this one, as it had decking, some home comforts and we were extra lucky to have fab weather to sit out in - had we not had this and the lovely van, then perhaps we'd not be just as enthusiastic. The site is small, but its friendly, quiet and just what I'd want in the future if i wanted a quiet, romantic break with my partner - but if its a site filled with entertainment you want, then perhaps its too remote and quiet for you.
I'd go back as a couple for a chilled experience, but we went with 2 teenage girls and altho they did enjoy themselves, I think any longer and they would have been bored. We didnt eat in the restaurant as weather so good we took opportunity to eat in/bbq. The games room was stifling hot but the girls enjoyed the pool and sauna. Shop appeared well stocked, little pricey but they always are, but we always go prepared and seldom need to use the site facilities anyway.
The location is remote but we went to chill or go for drives to sight-see and we really enjoyed Queens View, Killiecrankie bridge and PItlochry.
We did go to the bar for couple of hours each night and they had a good male/female singer on each night but the karaoke night on the sunday was a bit cheesy. The staff try really hard to get the (small) crowd going though, and all staff in general were friendly, chatty and down to earth.
Overall, we had a great time and would go again for a quiet w'end if we could get the same van again. I may choose elsewhere if I wanted night-life, restaurants nearby or had teenagers to keep entertained but its in a wonderful part of the world and if you like trees, forest and lochs, its just beautiful.

We booked this as a wee break for 4 days....
Caravan>>>was ok, had all the amenities we needed...it wis new for 2010, but...there was no seating area outside the caravan, so had to eat in the van...the back of the caravan was just rubble.

ENTERTAINMENT.....if you like 2nd ...no i mean 10th rate entertainment then u might like it......the club closed at 11 or 12 but the chippy shut at 10...very odd i thought.

the bar is overpriced....no a bad range but overpriced....didn't try the food cos i saw the chef's coverall and that just put me off...enuff said i think.

Nothing to do thru the day and i MEAN NOTHING.

This is the kinda of place that would suit weegies with a band of wains and a few crates o bucky and the 3 foot long cigs....cos all there is to do is drink...otherwise NOTHING..

one thing that really got my goat was paying £1.50 for 6 rolls....25p a roll...even robin hood hood would be that bad.

This was the first Parkdean park we had stayed at & were very impressed by the company. Fantastic location with Schiehallion (the mountain) visable from the park. I agree with some about it being remote & being 12 miles outside Pitlochry, but thats part of its charm. Fantastic wildlife in the area with Deer, Red Squirrels & Hares. Receptionists were very helpful. The swimming pool was adequate, but could get very over crowded at peak season. This was our last pre-baby holiday & gave us a great location to explore The Highlands. Bar is small & entertainment minimal (not as good as other Holiday companies like British Holidays). We went for a mid range caravan that had several faults, like missing or non working light bulbs, a door that didnt shut & a leaky tap. However, these were quickly rectified by the maintenance team within hours. Site has a takeaway that sells Pizza & fish & chips. Prices were ok.

I was at tummel valley for christmas with my 4 yo. We had a brilliant time. We stayed in a lodge but walked right round the park and looked at all the caravans too. We stayed there in a caravan about 8 years ago there and this was the first time we had been back since.

Pool was out of order because of extremely cold weather but other than that would recommend it and am going again this year. The manager took time out to come to our lodge well in advance of our booked in time to advise us of this. Staff are wonderful, wee shop has anything you might need. Lodge was immaculate.

The food at the clubhouse was lovely (we had our xmas dinner there and full cooked breakfast on our last morning), and well cooked and didn't have to wait too long.

There is a playpark beside the clubhouse - but there is also one in amongst the caravans and there is an outside sport pitch too.

We never tried the nightlife or the children's clubs, but am sure it would be ok.

I wouldn't stay for 7 nights, I think 3 or 4 nights would be enough.

As for prices in the wee shop, well, all on site shops charge more than a supermarket but the choice was enough, considering the time of year that we went.

Stayed for a short break at Tummel Valley and yes I must admit the scenery is very magnificent, but do not be mislead by the brochure which says large and liverly, it is non of these. There is a tiny over priced grocery shop, with the selection that is like you would have seen on a bad day in the USSR before the iron curtian fell. The nearest town is Pitlochry 15 or so miles away along a narrow country lane often used by large vehicles. Again do not be fooled the site is no where near Pitlochry! Make sure you bring plenty of supplies and food, the supermarket there is limited too.

Another big concern I saw was the childrens play park on the banks of an EXTREMERLY fast flowing river with phenomonal strong currents, and inadequate fencing. Do please watch your children, anyone who falls in there has no chance!

I think the place is ideal for anyone who wants a break away from it all. For people who are not so concerned about entertainment or facilities and prefere the solitude and I would say that is a selling point. I would not recommend this place for families with young childen who like play facilities.

To conclude, do your research, check google Earth its small and quiet, make sure you bring your own food and plenty of it and lots of DVDs board games, books etc for wet weather or boredom.

After booking a holiday to the Tummel Valley park I read some of the reviews on here and was dreading it!

Yes, the road is windy, and yes it is a bit from Pitlochry, but if you know that, its not that bad. There is loads to do and see around the area, so we were expecting to drive around a lot. We didn't always take the road straight to Pitlochry you can go round another way to various places. I am not the most confident on windy country roads, but it really WASN'T that bad, not nearly as bad as made out to be here.

We were there with my 3 year old son and my Mum and sister. The Lodge was fantastic, spotlessly clean, everything looked brand new. Huge lounge and kitchen area, with everything you could need. 3 bedrooms, one en suite . Seperate bathroom with bath, fantastic showers. Flat screen tv in lounge and additional tv in master bedroom.
Really good value at what worked out as about £20 per night per adult.

The facilities... yeah they are not great. We didn't eat in the restaurant or use the bar,but that wasnt because they werent nice (although they didnt tempt us!). The shop was ok,typical caravan site of this type shop, a bit expensive, but had stuff if you weren't prepared. We did have food from the take away, it was nice! It wasnt any worse than any other chipper!

The pool was great, yes the changing rooms could be upgraded, its not like a private gym, but they were fine to get changed in. My son loved the pool. you do need to arrive 10 mins before the session and if its busy you might not get in,so you need to plan

We had a great time, we loved the lodge, the pool was great. The play park is near a river, I wouldnt leave my son unsupervised so it wasnt a major problem for us.

All in all, it was fine, think some folk on her are having a big moan! Also I thought the staff were nice
