Caravela Beach Resort
Ranked #1 of 10 Hotels in Varca
Reviewed January 19, 2013

Ramada Caravela is a fantastic piece of property.. Beautiful landscaped gardens, lawns, 9 hole golf course.. they have tennis courts.. large, spacious and aesthetic swimming pools and a private access and sit out at varca beach.. the beach itself is very clean and peaceful.. the resort staff was very friendly at all times.. their food variety is amazing.. there is something in the buffet and the a la carte to suit every palate.. although their in room dining menu is not adequate enough.. the casino was closed which also was a disappointment.. but we just loved chilling at the resort be it at the beach bed on the beach or in the pool.. they also have a bar inside the swimming pool and another bar at the beach.. its just 45 mins from the airport..

Room Tip: rooms near the tennis courts are quieter.. rooms near the poolside are closer to the dining area and...

+ : great beach-side location with a clean white uncluttered Varca beach
+ : huge golf course
+ : inviting swimming pool
+: highly well-appointed with multiple restaurants, beach side bars and shacks, an activity center
+: all water sports available on the beach incl para-sailing, jet-skiing, cruise.
+ : entertainment and cultureal programs
- : bit of a waste to have such a sprawling property where none of the rooms offer direct view and access to the spendid beach and sea. you have to walk across the lawn/golf course to access the beach. after all, u don't go to a beach side property for its swimming pool or golf-course - u go there for the beach and the sea.
- : too expensive n not worth the moneyif u simply want to experience real goa, its sea, sunsets, the local food and culture. Head further south to Agonda for its beach huts with serene, clean beach with spectacular views, direct sea access and great shack food - all at one-fifth the price of Ramada.

Room Tip: if u r interested in lawn/land-scape/golf-course (for which u need not go to goa, u can be in your l...

Spent 3 nights and 4 days at this resort with my family in two double superior plus rooms. The resort in itself is beautiful and well planned. The coconut trees with hammocks and a relaxed quite atmosphere. The rooms are big and have an attached balcony. We had booked pool view rooms which gave a lovely view and nice evening music. There are quieter areas to live if you prefer. The beach was another huge plus, well managed, clean and not crowded, beach towels provided. Large Swimming pool suitable for all ages and abilities. Lots of activities for kids, adults. We had paid for inclusive buffet meals. The food and preparation was absolutely fantastic. We are strict vegetarians from North India but the range and quality of preparations was exceptional. The third big plus was hospitality. The staff made us feel welcome all the time, always smiling and happy to help. We will certainly go again.
The half day sightseeing (complimentary) was disappointing. The only shortcoming was, no DVD player in the rooms and no complimentary wifi (was available on a daily charge).

Room Tip: Prefer superior rooms rather than deluxe, ask for pool view unless you prefer quite and peace (eveni...

Stayed here several years ago and at first sight its a beautiful hotel, It is fairly new with a couple of pools and very attentive staff. There is also a fitness centre.
Ate a couple of evening meals here and they were OK although the breakfasts were very good. A selection of english, continental, north and south Indian all freshly prepared.
They had a good guest relations manager who was able to organise good excursions.
The beach is beautiful but deserted. However you can rent bikes (expensive) and cycle along it. The best food to be had was actually in the beach huts just outside the hotel.
A downside was that the room I was given(I was a late cancellation booking) was not very clean and certainly not 4 or 5 star.
Another downside is that the taxis outside the hotel function as a cartel so as a westerner its very difficult to get a fair price and you end up paying for the driver to take you, wait and then return you to the hotel. Very difficult to get a single trip anywhere for a reasonable price.
Beautiful beach though with some great beach huts serving wonderful feni. A great way to watch the sun go down.

Had a family holiday here just before Xmas. Staff are excellent, location is stunning with a lovely safe beach for kids to play in sea. Local beach huts served wonderful food. Didn't eat many meals at hotel but what we did have was good. Can't wait to return.
