“A haven in the heart of chaotic Palakkad...”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

As mentioned by the others this is indeed a landmark of Palakkad and its almost impossible for you to miss this due to its central location.Unlike the other forts I have been, there is nothing much to see or mention about the architecture here. But its undoubtedly a haven in the heart of a chaotic town like Palakkad with lush green meadows, pathways and a water body surrounding the entire fort. The fort complex also houses a hanuman temple which is really divine and beautiful.Overall a good place to relax and spend some time in the evening.

“Tipu fort and Fort maidan”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

The landmark of our mother town Palakkad. Old fort of Tipu sultan.
Earlier most of the Government office's were put up inside the fort and later most of them shifted to the newly constructed Civil station building.

Not much to see or experience than spending the evenings or walking around in the morning. Hanuman Temple , inside the fort is famous for the regular poojas.

“History Sleeps here”
Reviewed December 6, 2012

The Tipu Sultan Fort , also known as Palakkad Fort is located in the heart of the Palakkad. The exterior view of this Heritage Fort looks very cute and beautiful. But the interior view is not that much great as we can see lot of Govt offices located there, which is not suited for a Heritage site. However it doesn't affect our trip as we can avoid such offices to visit!. But the Fort has been constructed during 13 th Century and is made up of Granite Stone, which is the main wonder of this Fort. You can see many granite designs made this Fort proud.

There is a small beautiful Anjaneya Temple ( Hanuman Temple) located inside the Fort, which was also believed there during 13 th Century. Now a Temple Trust is running this beautiful Temple.

We can see the Aeriel view of Palakkad City and suburbs from the each corner of the Fort, which is really interesting and photogenic.

The Huge Fort is covered by a huge pond, which is also an interesting attraction from the exterior view. Another advantage of this fort is , entrance is totally free for domestic as well as foreign tourists, which is also worth as we have to pay for many forts in South India, which are not worth to see anything over there. We can see a small pond inside the Fort, believed that the ancient people used to take bath or for other purposes. The interior of this Fort is blessed with many big trees.

We have visited this fort with a college group from Mumbai during February 2012. We have seen there many students groups during our visit. This Fort is worth to visit for all.
