I have stayed in Sri chakra international for 6/7 days for my business trips at palaghat. Actually in palaghat very few good hotels are available and yu have limited choice.
If you see the first time, you will have many expectations by seeing the building structure and its internal paintings. But the fact is the hotel is not at all being maintained well. During my 2 times Stay Central AC not working properly. The restarent is not at all good. They will offer buffet breakfast ( only 3 items) as complementary, which is too cold and no taste. The dinner items also not tasty. [you can find good vegetarian restaurant by walkable distance near to junction ]

On positive side, the building location, internal paintings, parking space, etc is good.
If the management improves the maintenance aspects and restaurant , i am sure that this will be the best hotel in that locality.

Room Tip: Please ensure A.C before selecting room. In many rooms it is not working properly. Avoid food in re...

We landed up at this place on 28th evening 10:45 pm enroute to Alleppey( my home town) from Bangalore. Since I started late from Bangalore ( 4:30pm) didn't want to drive the entire stretch hence decided to halt in palakkad and then resume driving in the morning. Since I have seen this hotel and been to its restaurent few years back didn't hesitate to ring them up and block a family room. The rates were 2400 plus taxes for a night stay. I was literally tired driving for around 6 hours post a days work at office and hence was looking for a comfortable place to sleep. Was greeted well by the receptionist and was taken to the room by one of the hotel staff. The room was a shocker to me.. The wall puttys have come out and had a pale look bathroom tiles were broken and bathtubs all with dirt amped grease. Based on my request I was given another room which was slightly better than the first one.. The TV ( old 14 inch) was a funny one.. Had to be punched once in a while to get volume.. I somehow managed to sleep, woke up around 6 30. We all took a shower, but was not an easy job as we had to hold the tap with one hand for the showers to work. Vacated the room around 7 30 am. The hotel lacks maintenance, though very strategically located and has a grand look from outside but not recommended for staying in the current condition for the rates they offer. Unless the management does a proper refurbishment it will soon be ignored by guests.

2006- srichackra was the height of Accomplishment . 2012 Height of Apathy???

I mean I have seen this place bubling with excitement, with positive energy alas now the place looks a pale reminder of what is left of.

I mean no criticism , Just putting on the thinking cap to try analysing as to what could make a difference.

Such a lovely location, huge 2 acre property,250 sqfeet rooms, lovely lawns, open spaces etc but no maintainence. The service is good but whats the use if the menu is limited to 20% of the listings. As such the quality of residence is below par and would need a lot of rethinking to bring it to sustainable levels.

I found Housekeeper (Housekeeping Pun Intended) below par maybe he is helpless and frankly the hotel would need a total refurbish. Fresh ideas and may be a fresh chef needs to come onboard.

Knowing the management's grooming and like for discipline I am sure that they would take up the areas of concern and work on them to bring back the past glory of Sri. Chackra.

The hotel is conveniently located just outside the main town. The reception and exterior are great, and the rooms are spacious. The rooms though are a bit short on the maintanance aspect.
The restaurant is okay regarding the food. The morning breakfast buffet is very poor with very few items and on the first day the buffet was cancelled apparently due to a lack of guests.
The hotel on the whole appears to be understaffed, but the available staff were courteous and helpful.
Overall an okay kind of hotel. Will recommend due to a paucity of other options in the area.

Years back when we were returning from Guruvayur to Coimbatore, we hoped for lunch. THe lunch was very sumptuous and tasty. The staff were very courteous. Next we stayed in Palghat Sri Chakra Hotel when ever we traveled from our home town Madurai to Guruvayur. We have always enjoyed our stay. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The food served is tasty. The lobby is one of the grandeur lobbies i appreciate.

Room Tip: The rooms on the first floor will be convenient.

Had been to Sri Chakra International on 22 May 2012. Was in Palghat to attend a family function and knowing the (lack of) options, I was at double minds whether to stay at a relative's house at Cochin or have a good sleep at Palghat. I had stayed at Sri Chakra around 6 years back and had to lazy around for a day due to an unplanned bandh that forced us to stop enroute Yercaud. It was then a good place to stay though the food was nothing to boast about.

This time I realized how important and difficult the upkeep is, as the construction itself. The hotel has been devoid of regular maintenance as is quite evident from the state of paint, doors, windows etc. The hotel which once remained a favorite for travellers has now aged, not gracefully at all.

Let me review this based on the following factors so that it benefits all - location, rooms, food, service, faciities, value for money.

Location - 5 on 5! It just cannot be better than being on the highway. You don't need a map or ask some one on the way to find this hotel. When you come from Cochin, turn left towards Coimbatore from Palghat bypass and around 200m to the left is this hotel. Being on the highway, its just 2.5 Km to the KSTRC bus stand which is at the heart of the city. Full marks on finding this priceless spot.

Rooms - 2 on 5. Don't expect a deluxe double room to give you anything that is industry standard. The paint had started peeling off, toilet flush lever didn't work, windows refuse to close and the linen is soiled. The room is huge though, probably due to the abundance of space when this hotel was conceptualized. Otherwise, its just less than basic for around 2500 INR! A word of caution - every deluxe room has a bath tub, but hold on...that's probably where people stand and take bath. There isn't any tap other than that and the bucket was kept there itself. Lesson - never use the bath tub for its intended purpose.

Food - 3 on 5. Food has never been the USP and this time again it met my expectations. Exceeded, rather :-) for it was worse than last time. You get only spicy kerala breakfast and if you request, you will get bread, butter and jam. A watermelon juice is on offer as a fresh fruit juice. If you think eggs, oats, corn flakes, croissants etc. you are out of place! Tea is offered in a small paper cup and if you insist, you get a full cup!

Service - 3 on 5. Didn't have many interactions with the staff, but found them courteous. The security personnel offered to wash my car and he promptly did.

Facilities - Can't say much now. I know there is a pool, but didn't get time to check it out. Parking space is ample and there is nothing to complain. I saw IPL matches being aired in the garden, so there is an option & space for a video screening. There is loads of space around the hotel, so kids will never complain. But this is Palghat where climate is extreme - it was cool at night and quite dry and hot during the day.

Value for Money - 2 on 5! Overall, this is a place to stop over if you've something to attend in the early hours of the morning, want to stay away from the town, yet have easy access to it and stay is never a priority. Nothing more. I hear that there are many homestays, more on that soon.

Room Tip: I can't think of any direction as better than the other.
