Lovely fort, particularly from the outside. Also very touristy outside. I have scored it only 3 because it wasn’t as beautiful and interesting when compared with those at Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. Please don’t use the elephants, here or anywhere in the world - ever. Educate yourself about pajan, which is what every elephant has had to go through. It must stop and it starts with tourists saying no.

Visited the fort with my wife and mother for the sound and light show. The organisers were very courteous. The public toilet facility was very clean (surprisingly for a public spot) and the entire experience was memorable
The sound and light show was very good and is a MUST SEE if you visit Jaipur

Amer or Amber Fort is little away from Jaipur and one of the major tourist attraction. It's architectural beauty is a feast for lovers of history. The palace is having light show in the evening. While entering the Fort you will see a lake in the front side. If You try to explore the living style & traditions of history, then you will feel very excited about this trip

We took a guided tour of Amer Fort. Well worth a visit and guide to its history. It does get very busy and very hot so be prepared and go as early in the day as possible.

Take a guide but be careful to not shop at the stores they recommend. They lie to you saying they are govt stores but the guide and driver's have a 30% commission from your sale... We bought 12,000 worth and found that the stuff we bought was available for less than 4,000 in the local market in Jaipur.... What a scam.... Beware!!!!

I was amazed to see how large this fort was and how well kept it is. It is lite up at night as well. You have suberpe views from inside the fort. Definitely recommend it if you are in Jaipur.

Really liked the vibe here and worth visiting. Allow about 2 hours. Annoying that ‘foreigners’pay 10 x Indians to enter though!

Going to jaipur and not seeing the amber fort is akin to going to Agra and not seeing the Taj Mahal !! This is the no 1 mist see spot in Jaipur . Majestic and big in every way .
One can go there either by a private vehicle or in a shared Mahindra SUV ( traffic jam is common ) or can take an elephant ride ( expensive ) or can just trek all the way up ( tiring ) .
Opens quite early . Lots of guides will be there , suggest to take one , as there is a lot of history , and one is not always well informed . They also know good spots to take some interesting pics . The tour can take 1.5 hrs , and involves quite a bit of walking . We get a panoramic view of the surrounding aravalli ranges .
The place is very crowded and only gets worse , so an early start is recommended . After the tour , the guides may take you to one of the many cottage industries , they may pester you to buy something , feel free to say no !!
