“Beautiful View!”

This might not be fair: this is a destination resort for families, and we were their for only one night. Still, here you go.

The view is wonderful! Looks like all five of the units have pretty good views of that beautiful lake.

The accommodations have obviously had lots of hard use, though they were quite clean and tidy, at least our room (#5). The landlady was very helpful and pleasant. the place has beach access, but you need to be in good condition, as it is a long hike downhill to the beach (and, yes...uphill back).

The cooking equipment, which was important to us this night (not much for eating in the town!) was adequate and clean. The toaster didn't work, but maybe "operator error". I'm sure the landlady would have come to fix, but well, we wanted an early start and we're trying to make toast at 6 a.m.

We came there to see the lake and play golf at the local course (reviewed separately). We accomplished our goal.

Room Tip: Tell the landlady at booking if cooking facilities are important to you. Apparently there are diffe...

We stayed at Stuart Lodge for 2 nights, and it was exquisite. We found the owners very friendly and easy to get along with. Our cabin was very private and romantic. I would have stayed a month or more, but my sister in Prince George was expecting us. I will definitely go back, again and again. Its a world away from the hussle-bussle. Even the work crews who stayed there, they left so quietly in the early mornings, didn't disturb us at all. A very quiet location, on a dead-end street, so very very peaceful and quiet. I highly recommend it, for anyone who wants a rustic get-away, its about 3/4 hr north of Vanderhoof BC, off the beaten track, about 5 ks from Fort St James, where there are good grocery stores. The cabins have all the dishes, pots, cutlery etc that you would ever need. Norah Macey, Victoria BC

Room Tip: The cabin at the far end (from the office) would be the quietest, as there would be no other guests...

I stayed at the Stuart Lodge for 5 nights on business. It was a typical 70's inspired lodge, a complex of several lodges actually. It is a family run business which seems to be popular with travellers.

It comes equipped with a kitchenette and full bath. Everything was spotless when we arrived. A quiet place close to downtown Fort St. James. Very affordable. A great place to relax. The lodge also has land right on the waters of Stuart Lake.

Would recommend and definitely staying again.
