“Great groupon deal”
Reviewed September 1, 2014 via mobile

For a groupon deal, I would say this was one of the best we have done. A really nice hotel, great deal (£99 for 2 nights including breakfast and a bottle of wine) and a really comfy stay. The staff were all pleasant and helpful when spoken to and the locals were even friendlier! Really done out well hotel, good food and a perfect place to see Devon and Cornwall. Cash machines are nearby and a local co op for convenience. Well worth a 6 hour drive!!

4 x friends in 2 rooms for 3 night stay. Originally for the 2 night KGB deal but agreed a third night for the same deal plus a bottle of wine each room. What more could you ask. Lovely comfortable room with superb bathroom facilities plus plentiful tea and coffee making facilities with 2 bottles of water, good breakfast, welcoming friendly attentive staff and a lovely olde worlde style pub/hotel. All of which we had.

The lunch and evening meals also were of good quality and good portions. We had a twin room and for me the bed was too soft plus also double quilts on the single beds would be a benefit.being a restless sleeper I kept losing it. My friends however slept like logs with no complaints.

There are stairs to the rooms but I did notice a room on the ground floor and lift at the rear of the property for access allowing both disabled access at the front and rear of the establishment Also plenty of parking..

We enjoyed a lovely stay and would not hesitate to stay here again if there was a good deal. We felt that the normal price of £110 for a standard room was a little steep .

For me the difference between a 'very good' and 'excellent' was purely on the sleep quality and also although a good breakfast variety I really enjoy some fruit. Just personal preference it's a lovely place to stay and allows good access to Devon, Dartmoor and Cornwall exploring.

Room Tip: We had room 7 very quiet and large. Our friends in room 2 not quite so large did notice the chiming...

A very pleasant and comfortable hotel. Everything you needed was in the good sized room. ......tea making facilities + 2 bottles of water, the bathroom bits and bobs, large tv, nice soft beds...maybe not suited to everyone, but lovely for me.
A good breakfast menu choice to suit everyone, and friendly staff.
They did have a problem with their card machine which was connected to a mobile network, which refused to connect, so we had to pay cash.
We only needed to stay one night, but would recommend The George to anyone.

This was an online deal 2 night stay with kgb. Good service from staff. Room good size, lovely furnishings, telly and hot drinks facilities. Power shower excellent. Large TV. Deal came with free bottle of wine, of which there were many choices. Room 7 nice n quiet as long as the window was shut as the church clock chimes every 15 minutes. The free WiFi is good but struggled to reach room 7.
Pub itself is quite lively and hosts a weekly meat draw on Sundays. The customers are not noisy, shame one of them threw up outside the toilets which put us off eating our evening meal there. The menu looked interesting with average to above average prices. The breakfast was certainly good, with a choice including smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. It was a shame no fresh fruit was offered too.
Hatherliegh is quaint village with other places to eat. On Tuesdays there is a farmers and livestock market which is interesting. He hotel offers lots of parking.
It has good access to Dartmoor and many walks.

We arrived at the hotel with a warm welcome. We where showed to our room, which did not have a bath, which we had wanted, so we asked if one was available, there was one but it was an upgrade of £35 per night which we agreed to pay as soon as we saw the room because it was fantastic. Lovely big airy room, with a beautiful free standing bath in the corner and a well equipped bathroom with a double shower. The bed was comfortable and very large, bigger than a king we think and a four poster! We ate in the restaurant that evening, very nice food but the menu was a little limited. The breakfast was generally good but on the second morning the poached eggs where underdone and slightly slimy and there fore could not be eaten. The customers service was warm and friendly without being intrusive, the decor through the hotel was good and kept to the original history of the hotel after suffering a fire in 2008. One annoyance in the summer would be with the window open you hear the church bells EVERY 15 mins but maybe that is to be expected in a little village. This was excellent value due to the fact we had a wowcher deal. but we were told all deals would be honored if we phone direct.

Room Tip: Definately uprgrade to rooms 1,2 or 3, these are stunning. room 3 has a four poster and a free stand...

We booked on an online deal and were delighted with this hotel.

Upon arrival we were given a warm and friendly greeting by helpful staff. The staff did all they could to make our visit a pleasant one.

Our room was spotlessly clean, well furnished and very comfortable. Thevroom had tea coffee and hot chocolate as well as biscuits. There we also complementary toiletries.

We stayed for two nights and had the full breakfast both mornings. It was delicious, good quality and and there was a good choice. We ate in one evening and the food was top notch.

The bar is full of character and characters, as it is clearly popular with the locals. A good sign in my opinion. The bar is well stocked and offers plenty of choice including three real ales.

In conclusion I hope I am able to visit again soon.
