We called in today for a lunch on the off chance. Hardly anyone there. Had (a) their 'special' - mussels with chips. They were very small and not fresh, tasting distinctly 'off'. The few my wife ate are still repeating now. The sauce (a plain tomato sauce - quite inappropriate for mussels) conveniently overwhelmed the taste. Had to reject them as inedible. Also had (b) steak and caramelised onion on bread. The steak was okay but there was just the tiniest speck of onion relish. The bread was 2 or 3 days old, and there was hairy fluff on the salad. We complained about both dishes and were given a prompt refund, but in poor grace. There was no apology and we felt unwelcome. We shall never go there again. Pity, as it could otherwise be our 'local'.
