Switzerland is excessively expensive, so that means when you pay 87Chf for a room, you cant expect too much. But thats where I was very pleasantly delighted with this hotel. Usually rooms in Europe at that price are pokey, and you may or may not have a bathroom.

This place, the first impression when I walked into my room is, wow, the space! It presents exactly as the photos on booking.com, and deserves high marks for that. The caramel and icecream dessert I had in the restaurant was divine, the staff were (by European standards) warm and welcoming.

I would like to have stayed longer, but the weather was crap, and I didnt have time to wait it out, otherwise I had grand plans of hiring a bike over at the local SBB train station, and riding down towards Brig. Sadly that part of the plan did not eventuate, but if I go back to Disentis, this is the place I will be staying.

And a nice touch, the rooms have names, not numbers.

HIghly recommend this place. If you are coming from the station, go left from the station, walk up 30 metres to the main street, turn right, walk another 40metres up a slight hill, then take the first street on the left. Its an 'S' shaped walk, and there is a helpful diagram on the side of a building showing as such as you leave the station. Easy to find, not a hard walk unless you have too much luggage.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the street, its not a noisy town, but the view is intesting, see my photo atta...

We stayed two nights in this hotel and we enjoyed the" rustical" room very much indeed! It is on the second floor so you need to climb up two stairs.
From the very welcome of its owner, Mrs Annalisa, we enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of a family run small hotel (14 rooms). Nice breakfast with cold cuts, cheeses selection, various breads and croissants and tea, coffee, hot chocolate or espresso will start your day! Note that the jams are home made and you can taste their fruits with gusto! We paid CHF 140.- per night on a B&B basis.

Room Tip: The Rustical room has a large bath tub for two in the room and a shower in the WC! All Superior roo...

At the foot of the Oberalp Pass (Alpsu in Romansch) this old-established hotel is a great place to soak up the atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable with all modern conveniences and the restaurant a great place to try local dishes. Their Capuns are the best ever.

Breakfast is an absolute treat: not so much the food as the presence of grandpa, who makes everyone really welcome and presides with panache. The Stammtisch fills up early with his chums, drinking coffee (and even beer) and chatting about who knows what in Romansch - something you hardly hear anywhere in the rest of Graubuenden.

A great introduction to the town. Under the same management is the bustling pizzeria/ restaurant opposite.

We were looking at a place to stay in the mountains for one night on our way to the Ticino, mainly to avoid the traffic jams on the weekend in front of the Gotthard.
The Hotel Alpsu was just the perfect place for such a "one night affair". The family room we had was quite spacious, with a double bed on one side of the room and two single beds for the kids on the other side. I think there was also a small TV in the room, but we didnt bother to switch it on.
The furniture was basic but functional, same goes for the bathroom.
The room comes with breakfast, which is essentially a small selection of breads, cold cuts, cheeses and cereals. Nothing too fancy, but there was something for each one of us, including my fuzzy children...
We didnt try the local specialities in the restaurant, but went to their Pizza place, which also served very decent food.
Major drawback is the fact that the hotel is directly at the main road and as such you cant let the children out without supervision (but there was no traffic noise at all in the room).
The main advantage is that one can drive over the "Lukmanier Pass" to go to the Southern part of Switzerland or Italy, one of the most scenic drives in my opinion.

When we arrived at Disentis - by train - and walked to the Hotel Alpsu on the main street, it was being refurbished. It seems winter is high season and maintenance takes place in spring and summer. We had to navigate past the painters, paint and dropsheets to our room, but it was comfortable enough.

Disentis is a lovely alpine village or small town. The hotel is on the main highway between the city of Chur to the north, and Oberalppass, Andermatt and the south. The room was fine, pine-lined, as is common in rural Switzerland. We had a couple of issues: traffic noise was a problem. And because of the renovations, we had to go to the restaurant across the street for our breakfast. We had to ask for the central heating to be turned on as it was still quite cold for the time of year.

However, we received a hearty welcome and found the hotel and the town a good base for exploring the Rhine valley. Disentis has a famous monastery which was established in the 8th century.

I was here with my partner for a ski weekend. The hotel owners were so friendly and inviting. The room we stayed in included a hot tub; perfect for a nice dip after a day of skiing. Dinner at the hotel is recommended, try the "capuns". Would recommend this hotel to anybody!
