We have just returned from a great week picking olives with Greg and Sandie. This was our fourth visit and whilst a little different was as enjoyable as ever. The journey from Ancona to Avenale was easy particularly as it is very well documented and Greg's maps helped us enormously to find our way to other places. The views are outstanding and the countryside looks amazing at this time of the year.

We had a lot of fun picking the olives and got quite competitive trying to improve on the amounts picked on previous days. We had to leave before the olives were pressed but Greg took us down to the press and explained what happens. This was really interesting and next year we'll go a little later so that we can see the whole process.

Our thanks to Greg and Sandie for making us feel so much at home. We spent some very pleasant evenings chatting about how they had developed their property, its history and generally about life in Italy. We didn't really know what to expect but it was great and we'll certainly do it again next year.

We wanted to experience the Italian way of life, the friendly atmosphere and superb food (not to mention the delicious wine) and at “il sorger del sole” we found exactly what we were looking for. Our hosts Greg and Sandra made us feel at home from the moment we arrived, nothing was too much trouble. It was fun learning about the history of the beautiful old farmhouse. Our room still had many of its original features which added to its charm and uniqueness, whilst still offering the comfort of en-suite facilities and also tea, coffee, wine and snacks supplied. We relaxed sipping our wine in the sunshine whilst enjoying the fantastic views and, of course, the farmhouse has its own beautiful olive groves so we had home-grown olive oil with our meals. This was a chance to “get away from it all”, to forget everything at home and savour a different way of life. We walked into Troviggiano and enjoyed beer sat in a pretty courtyard and coffee in the café and everyone was so welcoming and helpful. We also had great fun catching the bus from Troviggiano to visit the Cingoli market. We could not speak any Italian but everyone on the bus made sure we knew where to get off the bus and where to catch it again (all with smiles and waving to us). What lovely people. The area close by “il sorger del sole” has lovely walks where we appreciated the peace and tranquillity of the area. This was a special time for us and we would highly recommend a visit there. We will definitely return.

We highly recommend this delightful B&B to anyone, it’s a must, such a wonderful place, we can’t wait for our next visit in November. Sandra & Greg are the perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble for them, they go out of their way to make your stay special. We have never been anywhere where you get the hospitality and information they provide. They are happy to chat or they will leave you in peace. Greg will provide detailed maps and ideas for places to visit, Sandra will cook wonderful “dine with the host” meals. They have thought of everything to make your stay special. The room was comfortable, spotless and full of character., it had a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities as well as complimentary wine and water, TV, DVD player, music player.

Their lovely house is situated on top of a hill surrounded by stunning views of the countryside, you can see clear to the Adriatic. Breakfast was taken outside overlooking their olive groves (you must try their olive oil, it’s very good). It included fresh fruit from their trees, pastries, Sandra’s home made jams, meats and cheese, a feast to set you up for the day.
Il Sorger del Sole is the perfect base, there are some great places to visit nearby without having to travel a long way.

We could have not found a better place to stay! Cingoli is called the balcony of Le Marche and I think that whoever invented that must have also been at Il Sorgere del Sole, breath-taking views! Our room was so quaint and romantic that we thought we were on our honeymoon. Sandra and Greg are fantastic hosts and they really make you feel welcome from the first moment you arrive, plus they are good fun! We had good laughs together sitting on the staircase overlooking the valley sipping local wine and talking about all sorts. The morning breakfast was a great way to start the day, sitting under the fruit trees, surrounded by plants of lavender, eating home-grown products and looking over the valley all the way to the sea. Everyday we did something different, so many places to visit in the vicinities and plenty of space in the B&B land to spend a lazy day, sunbathing, having a picnic in the shade of the trees, or walk around and hug their hundreds-of-year-old olive trees :-), don't forget to taste their olive oil!
I found not only charming but also very practical how our room was set and it was very helpful to have the use of a fridge, plates and cutlery and coffee/tea facilities.
Don't miss out to visit nearby Jesi (the enoteca ufficiale delle Marche is fantastic to learn about the local wines!), the fizzy villages of Cingoli and Cupramontana, all the vineyards, the art in churches and museums and the good reasonably-priced restaurants found everywhere around the area. For now we just look at the photos of our lovely patio shaded with vine and the spectacular view to remember the good times and soon we will start planning our next visit. I feel very lucky to have found such a wonderful place for our holiday. I recommend it to anybody! And when you go there bring Seppo's and Monica's greetings to the hosts!

We stayed twice in this beautiful situated and restored house from Greg & Sandra.
The house is located on a hillside and has a super bella vista!
The rooms are cozy and comfortable with very good beds and shower facilities.
Small sitting areas in the garden and orchard make it possible to sit and enjoy a glass of the wine that comes with the room. This welcoming place was a good base for Cingoli and surrounding.
We received a lot of useful tips and little original handmade maps to help us explore the area.

We chose to spend 6 nights at Il Sorger as part of a romantic week away to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Sandie and Greg went out of their way to make sure our special day was perfect, from Prosecco with our excellent breakfast sitting outside with the beautiful views to all the other little touches (a red rose in our room and fresh petals on the pillowcases!) We enjoyed a very specal meal at 'The Flying Pig Restaurant' (Maiale Valante) at their recommendation which was fantastic and ended the day perfectly.
Staying at Il Sorger gave us an authentic experience of this beautiful part of Italy, whilst enjoying the benefit of English hosts. You are spoilt for choice for beautiful places to visit and delightful places to eat which are mainly filled with locals. We will always remember our time there with very happy memories and thanks to Sandie and Greg.

We have now visited Il Sorger Del sole 6 times over several years and it is the only venue with have ever visited more than once. This is an unbelievably pretty home, with the most wonderful views and surroundings you will find in Italy and hosts who are generous, warm and so welcoming. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable and always spotless. Greg and Sandie are never too busy to help with anything, from directions and Greg drawing his excellent maps, to suggestions for places to visit, and supplying me with washing powder when I decided to throw red wine all over my cream trousers! The breakfasts are always gorgeous and plentiful, with fruit, Sandies home made jams, and delicious italian cooked meats and cheeses, plus a plentiful supply of tea (an essential in my book). Greg and Sandie are happy to chat if you wish to, or to will leave you to your peace and quiet when necessary, they always seem to know what's right. The nearby walled towns are just so pretty and quaint that you have to visit them! The scenery is so beautiful it's hard to describe, but once you've visited you will never forget it. If you don't want to venture very far you can sit in or stroll through their olive groves, or they will suggest places to you. I love this place and its owners so much I am always excited about the prospect of another visit and hate to leave, as Greg and Sandie have become good friends over the years. If you want a relaxing holiday, in the most beautiful surroundings, with people who will make sure you have a great visit, then this is the place for you.
