We have just returned from a great week picking olives with Greg and Sandie. This was our fourth visit and whilst a little different was as enjoyable as ever. The journey from Ancona to Avenale was easy particularly as it is very well documented and Greg's maps helped us enormously to find our way to other places. The views are outstanding and the countryside looks amazing at this time of the year.
We had a lot of fun picking the olives and got quite competitive trying to improve on the amounts picked on previous days. We had to leave before the olives were pressed but Greg took us down to the press and explained what happens. This was really interesting and next year we'll go a little later so that we can see the whole process.
Our thanks to Greg and Sandie for making us feel so much at home. We spent some very pleasant evenings chatting about how they had developed their property, its history and generally about life in Italy. We didn't really know what to expect but it was great and we'll certainly do it again next year.
