This apartment style hotel is literally across the street from Monte-Carlo, in Beausoleil, France. One side of the road is in Monte-Carlo/Monaco and the other is in Beausoleil. The room has all the amenities you would expect from a furnished apartment; coffee pot, hot water pot, satellite TV, microwave, refrigerator, hair dryer, etc... The bed was comfortable and the fold out couch was better than most. The receptionists were very helpfull with directions to everything from a bakery to the quickest way downtown. It took us five minutes to get to the Grimaldi Forum, where we wandered to the Casino, then it took us about five minutes to get back to the hotel, once we found the right staircase. I recommend this hotel for travelers with children, since the rooms are pretty quite, and the bedroom can be closed off from the rest of the apartment. There is only a shower (no tub) so that caused some issues with bathing the little ones.

This is an apartment, meaning there is a small kitchen on the side of the spacious room and a large bathroom, with a shower in a corner of the bathroom. It is really well located, just across the border from Monaco (so cheaper than anything in Monaco) but only 10-15 minutes walk to the centre of Monte Carlo (Casino, etc) when you figure out the shortcuts taking lifts down apartment blocks, shopping centres, etc. (in the top and out the bottom) and even closer to the beaches. Everything in the room was brand new, clean and worked well that I used. There was even a balcony (I had rear-facing room) which was pleasant although only looking onto buildings further up the slope. It was a sofa bed, but I found it comfortable and no doubt that is convenient if you want to have meetings or visitors in your room. The kitchen was well equipped. There is a drawback that the staff are not always there, and you should aim not to arrive to check in between 12 and 2:30pm. But when the staff or cleaners are around, they are very kind and helpful (for instance, I arrived at 1:30 and another guest had already called the manager who cut short his lunch to check us in). It was a little hard to find at first, so some wandering up the hillside. Excellent free wifi Internet and cafes nearby which supply you breakfast etc in the room if you request. Good price, especially if you stay all week (I didn't but was still happy with the price). I would definitely go back for a similar trip.

Situated 5 metres from the Monaco border and a 3 minute walk from Place de Moulins. Less than a 10 minute walk from Monte-Carlo/Place du Casino and less than 10 minutes walking and by lift to the beaches of Larvotto. Brand new apartments and the ones in the back are very very quiet, a rarity in this area. Very clean and prices very attractive, especially in low season or if you spend 7 nights or more. Good indoor parking at EUR8 per day. Only complaint is that the cleaning staff ring your bell at around 9AM waking you up, not good when you have an important business meeting that day and need all the rest you can get. They do not provide a "please do not disturb sign," so I suggest writing a note for the door to say what time you are leaving and not to disturb you, mais en francais bien sur! One other note, the bed is actually a pull out sofa bed which was already set-up for me, but it was not that great on my back, but good enough.

I will be staying here again next week - I have not found anything better!

Room Tip: The ones in the back, i.e. not facing the street are very quiet and perfect for a good nights sleep...

Every review should start with five bright stars, as this did, but a few things dented the image we were left with coming home.

Firstly a special mention for Manuela who was good enough to get us into our room in double quick time and with the least of fuss.

We paid a great price of £490 for seven nights. The room was a studio with a small kitchen area (chosen specifically to make our own breakfasts £££) and smart restroom (no bath, just a shower). Our room was rear facing with good sized balcony. The rear is a garden in progress (new build remember) and the front is street side with a huge residential tower block. Some rooms would get a small glimpse of the Med, On balance we were pleased to get the quieter less intrusive rear.

Everything was new in the studio. TV/cable, dishwasher, microwave with grill facility (but no toaster), kettle, coffeemaker and two hotplates - whatever could be wrong? The bed. Well, it was a sofa bed. I appreciate this is a studio and some people would love to fold away their mattress and relax on the sofa with a paper. My reality, coming on holiday, is that I'm far too knackered to have preference for sitting over lying. Also the sofa bed was noisy (ahem, I mean the springs when you or your partner are turning over). One star lost. Also bear in mind that if you're a light sleeper you'll be hearing the fridge and extractor fan. The extractor couldn't be shut off (the cord was for half open or fully open).

The cleanliness was excellent and, as above, everything was new. Towels were changed daily by housekeeping.

We had a car, so it is good for people to know a charge of eight euros per day is added to your bill (secure car park in the building).

This place lost the next star due to a false fire alarm at 0345. Fire alarms happen - fair enough. There aren't any staff in the building at night, so it seems the tourists were bewildered (asking us "are we going out or staying in"?!?). Make your own mind up, but we're getting out. There were French instructions next to the lift (and a illustration showing the exits). Looking at these instructions we were right next to one of the two stairwells to the ground floor. Oh dear MASSIVE FAIL the stairwell was pitch black. I gave it a few steps in case they were motion sensitive. Nope. On the chance the owners read this... Sort out the lighting and consider safety instructions in other languages! When we got to the lobby a man in his boxers had arrived and canceled the alarm explaining it was a false alarm (he'd had a call from the alarm company and drive over).

The Casino de Monte Carlo was about ten minutes walk, along with the supermarket and bus stop (use the bus - it's easy and saves your legs). The combination of new build, value and proximity to the touristy bit makes this a good choice for those looking for Monaco on a budget.

Room Tip: Stretch to a one bedroom apartment.if you can
