Just returned from a fantastic holiday at Castello di Santa Cristina. Molto grazie Antonello, Cristina, Vicki, Andrea and all the staff, everyone was fantastic, so helpful, it was a delight. Want to eat in or out they will help with arrangements and want to make your stay a pleasure. We stayed in the self catering cottages, but regularly ate at the restaurant. The food was traditional and delicious. The cottages were built for castle staff many years ago, they are quaint but functional, small but delightful nonetheless. There's lots of activities on site, the quality of the horse-riding is excellent. My wife, an expert horse rider enjoyed the hacks, some of our party were novice children and they enjoyed a gentle riding tour. You can play tennis or swim so this is not just for horsey people (I'm not). Situated on the Lazio/Tuscany border it is close to many tourist sites and the sea. Everywhere is a bit of a drive and the roads are never straight, but there is not much traffic in this rural region, so driving isn't a chore.Orvieto is a lovely town to visit nearby, as are many others. The history of the region is absolutely fascinating and intriguing, we would love to go back. We added a night at the end of our trip in Rome, (Open bus tour, Vatican, Colosseum) which was a lovely finish. Bravo e Ciao!!
