“Go out of your way to stay at Castello de Serre”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2012

This was hospitality at its finest. You are greeted joyfully by mine host Salvatore from the moment you arrive. Your luggae is spirited to your room, your car is taken down to the car park and you are escorted to your room after being offered some drink after your journey.
Our room was spectacular with every comfort possible and a lovely en-suite bathroom.
We overlooked the church but beyond the beautiful Sien countryside it was a joy to wake up in the morning.
Breakfast is informal with lovely fresh croissant, toast, melon and virtually anything that you may personally request. They produced a most lovely compote for my wife after she had told them what she liked on our first morning down.
The high point was the 4 course dinner for 8 people that was served to celebrate my 75th birthday. I requested that we have Belleinis for the pre-dinner drink and these were made with fresh peaches, they were delicious. The dinner was sensational and all produced by the swimming pool in a tiny kitchen. Fours other tables were also served dinner at the same time. With Salavtore slaving over a hot stove and Antonio and Fabio serving on table.
Do not miss this experience if you are within 100 kms of the Castello de Serre.

Room Tip: I don't believe that there is a bad room in the place.

My partner and I stayed at the Castello delle Serre for two nights/three days at the beginning of August, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Not only is the castle itself a jewel, but it comes in the package with a beautiful pool and terrace and wonderful hosts. Even the other guests who where there during our stay were really cool. If you are lucky enough that Salvatore is offering dinner during your stay, make sure to take advantage of some yummie home-cooked modern Tuscan cuisine.
And by all means, listen to all the reviews that tell you - do not attempt to stay at the Castello for just one night. You WILL be sorry :) :) :)

We first discovered Castello 6 years ago on our first trip to Italy. We were so impressed with the beauty of the castle as well as the warm, friendly staff. Salvatore and Antonio welcomed us and were so helpful in planning our daily excursions. We have made 4 more trips to Italy and have stayed at the castle each time! It's like coming home! We cannot imagine visiting Italy without a visit to see our "family", including Antonio's beautiful wife, Shelly! We look forward to our 6th visit next spring!

My husband and I stayed here at the Castello in early August. We had only intended to stay 4 nights but were having such a wonderful time, we were able to extend for 2 more. We had a superb room with a spectacular view over the village and Tuscan fields. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. The pool was also so refreshing and nice to come back to after a long day touring the area. Sal, Antonio and Shelley were the most gracious and helpful hosts. Breakfast was excellent and we even had a chance to have a dinner made with love by the family. It was one of the best dinners of our entire trip! Every morning we would plan our day, and Antonio, Sal, or Shelley would be there to help us with directions and sites to make sure we don't miss. Everything about our stay was just absolutely wonderful and could not have been better. We will for sure be back next time we can. Magical and would highly recommend it!

We stayed in the tower at the end of May for 3 nights and loved every monute of it. The tower is spectacular with a private rooftop with views in every direction. You can even see Siena and Montalpulicano on a clear day.
The grounds and pool area were beautiful (thought it was a bit too cool to swim).
We had made no plans before arriving and Anotonio put together a wonderful itnerary for us. We also got to enjoy dinner one evening at the castle which was one of the best on our trip!
I would love to go back and I highly recommend it to anyone as a base for exploring Tuscany.

Room Tip: splurge on the tower, it is worth the $$$!

I stayed at Castello delle Serre with a friend of mine for only one night, and it was an absolutely memorable experience. The castle is situated on top of a little hill surrounded by the tiny little village of Serre di Rapolano - a place that brings you back in time. From the time we entered the castle's gates, we felt like being in another world! It is a masterpiece of medieval architecture, perfectly renovated and rebuilt into a unique hotel. The family who owns the castle was welcoming us like we were part of the family and the service throughout our stay was personal and friendly. Our room was situated in the castle's tower, and very comfortable with an amazing view! We felt the breakfast was extremely nice as well, with fresh local products, and again a very personal service. I personally would recommend Castello delle Serre for everybody who is seeking for the utmost tuscan experience in the perfect atmosphere!

This is a wonderful beautiful place to stay with amazing rooms and a beautiful pool. It is in a very lovely little vilage. As good as the hotel amenities are the real value of this place is the wonderful and helpful people that run it. What a beautiful family and so helpful and welcoming. They really made us and my family feel welcome and give great advice and maps.
This is a must stop destination...cannot rate it high enough
