“Excellent staff and good value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2012

We came for a night away and we were greeted straight away by a lovely young lady who checked us into our room quickly and efficiently, the room was very cosy and comfortable and had everything we needed from tea making facilities to a hairdryer (very important). In the evening we came down for dinner and was again welcomed in to the restraunt by a lovely smiley young lady (Tina) she was our waitress for the evening and was ever so helpful in giving information about the local area as she lived in the village, She did seem to be doing an awful lot for someone who was 8 months pregnant but it didnt seem to effect the way she ran her shift ensuring that everyone in the restraunt was happy and keeping up apperance's in the bar to make sure everything was running smoothly, we had a lovley set 2 course meal both mains and pud were great!!! (choc fudge cake was heavenly)!! we then headed to the bar for a last drink before heading of to sleep, Izzy was very bubbly and chatty with a lovley smile and served us quickly. We had a great night sleep and we were nicley refreshed when it came to breakfast our waitress at breakfast (Mel) was very efficient in making sure we had everything we needed plenty of tea and toast :) and then checked s out with no problems and greeted us a plesent good bye. We will definetly be returning in the near future and will recommened to anyone, All the best to Tina and her bundle when it arrives xx

Helpful and friendly staff. Made sure we could eat dinner despite arriving late. Nicely decorated room. Very good breakfast and all menus seemed to offer a good range, including vegetarian dishes, and good value.

What made this hotel so good was the staff! Becky, Izzy and Brian were brilliant and made us feel so welcome. There was a temporary manager on duty when we arrived - Will - and he made us feel comfortable. The manager Craig arrived on our 2nd to last day and we didn't get the same interaction. The room was comfortable but could have been cleaner but because the staff were so nice this did not detract from our stay. Food was great, we have stayed in many Old English Inns and their standard is consistent. Met some locals in the bar, Baz and Paul (to name but 2) and to be honest that made our stay even more enjoyable! We do enjoy a comfortable atmosphere because my husband and I both originate from the countryside with a village life so the place became our "local". Love to the gorgeous Becky and Izzy (waitresses) and Brian (our barman).x

I booked in the Woolpack at the last minute as I had a meeting nearby. I didn't realise the pub stopped serving food at 21:00 on a Sunday; I arrived ten minutes after this and the first thing the lady who checked me in did was get the chef out to see what he could do for me, as he'd starting closing the kitchen and cleaning up. This was really appreciated as I'd jut driven 200 miles. The food was good and the beer great, with friendly efficient service from the barman also. Breakfast was also good, with the same service.

The room seemed good when I got in, big TV and generally nice and roomy. The oddness happened in the bathroom, the shower was a bit grubby and looked like it needed completely re-installing (the shower was also was cold in the morning, not cold-tap level of coldness, but not much warmer), as I brushed my teeth later on I noticed the mirrored ceiling. Why anyone would need a mirrored ceiling in a bathroom; the bedroom of a Las Vegas Penthouse Suite, but not a semi-rural English hotel. Very, very odd indeed.

Otherwise the hotel was good for the money and the food and drink decent enough.

Room Tip: Room one has a mirrored bathroom ceiling, choose this if you are weird.

Delighted we booked the Woolpack as it was such a relaxing weekend. The setting is really picturesque, quiet but with easy links to so many places of interest. Hotel staff were exceptionally helpful, food was superb, especially Sunday roast which was very good value.

This is a lovely hotel in a lovely peaceful area. The staff were very attentive upon arrival, and directed us to our room. The room was a good size, very comfy beds! We had an evening meal here too, the
Food was served efficiently and we had no complaints. Again the staff kept checks to make sure every thing was okay with our meals.
Breakfast was fine, great range of food to be had. And again staff were very efficient.
Check out was smooth with no problems. Overall stay was great, had no complaints. Great central location for Bath, Bradford on Avon and more.
