Well cottage is a beautiful, spotlessly clean and comfortable cottage full of character and charm. Fresh flowers on arrival, crisp cotton sheets and a basket of toiletries more common in a top class hotel! We felt thoroughly spoiled from start to finish. Longlete is close by and the village pub and farm shop are well worth visiting.
Warm and cosy cottage with log burner and courtyard . There are 2 excellent pubs within 5 minutes walking distance and a superb deli 3 minutes away. We find it impossible to be negative about Well Cottage , there is so much to do in the area and a very good bus service if you decide to leave the car behind (use your bus pass).
My wife and I visited recently and struggle to find any fault with this pretty, cosy cottage. Everything we required was on hand. It was immaculately clean, quiet and convenient for Bath, Bradford-on-Avon and the many pretty villages in the area. We will be back!

My girlfriend and I stayed at this cottage late April for just a long weekend (Fri-Sun). We were impressed with the information we were given even before we got there! Directions and instructions on how to access the keysafe etc. were easy to read and allowed us to get access to the cottage hassle-free and promptly - exactly what we wanted after a 2 hour drive! We were even pleasantly surprised with plenty of parking space, literally on the doorstep!
Once in, we loved the 'olde' style of the place, the log burner and beams were really impressive, and we really did feel at home. It's well equipped - Free WiFi, landline phone, log burner, outdoor patio space, spacious room & king-size bed, everything you need in the kitchen, DVD player, games... I could go on.. Oh and even a tourist-esque brochure selection and cottage 'info-pack', which was a good read.
The location is in a sleepy village about 20-30 minutes from Bath, but about 20-30 steps away from a pub! (with nice food and nicer drink) We did eat out here quite a bit as it is just down the road and good value, but preferred to cook ourselves. The only downside is that the nearest supermarket is about a 10 minutes drive down the road; mind you, the Co-Op has plenty to stock up on, and there are larger superstores (Sainsburys & Asda) only 5 minutes past there if you need to really stock up...
There was enough to keep us busy, Bath was a fantastic day-trip - loads to see (roman baths for example), plenty of shops (unfortunately for the wallet, but great for the other half) and great places to eat (I've never even heard of a bagel cafe before!)... Oh and so too was the Longleat Safari Park/Zoo, only about 20 minutes away, if that, but my first time there. We both loved it. Even after a bit of sight-seeing, it was nice to just relax on the sofa with some popcorn and watch a film in front of the fire.
I will say, however, that the sofa felt a little used, but was still comfy as heck, and the TV could have maybe been a little bigger and newer, but if you’re not used to big LED-TVs, you won't notice.
There was a review on here about the cleanliness, but I must say the owners must have done something, or that person was being wayyy over-dramatic, because I couldn't fault it! Bed linen was spotless, bathroom was clean and the kitchen cupboards, and lounge were all free from any nasties.
Overall, we had a perfect getaway, we were lucky with the weather which was a blessing, and thoroughly enjoyed what Frome, Bath, and Somerset had to offer. The cottage was amazing and I would defiantly urge anyone not sure on it, to just go for it. I'd also say that the previous bad review was way too harsh, and not even warranted! The owners are clearly passionate about the property and their efforts to accommodate were appreciated. Props to the cleaner also, as I couldn't fault the cleanliness.
Thank you very much Well Cottage, we loved every bit of our stay.

When is dirt, mould and grime acceptable?
Apparently when its in a 400 year old cottage - according to the owners. Who are still happy to charge almost £100 a night, but not to clean under the sofa behind the beds, or the windows.
Lets be clear; this cottage could be delightful. Its in a lovely Somerset village, has a great log burning stove and is well equipped. There's wifi and a free phone, enough plates, mugs and bowls to feed a small army.
But I, for one, would swop all this for clean floors, a shower head and bath splashback that didn't have black mould growing on them, light fittings without cobwebs, someone elses chocolates under the sofa ( and lots of em ), windows that you could actually see through, and just the general feeling that every time you opened a cupboard you were going to get a nasty surprise.
All of this review is completely true , I have photos to prove it.
Next time I need somewhere to stay in Beckington I'll go to the Travel Lodge just around the corner. It might not be 400 years old but at least it will be clean.

We spent a wonderful three days at Well Cottage over Christmas. The cottage is lovely, very cosy yet spacious rooms, with everything you need provided. We enjoyed the fireplace in particular and did a lot of cooking - the kitchen is great (although proper chopping boards would be useful!). The local farm shop sells great produce and Bath is very close by. The owners had thoughtfully provided a small Christmas tree, which was very much appreciated.

Absolutely loved our week in Well Cottage, in the picturesque village of Beckington. Really great location for many attractions - Bath, Longleat, Wookey Hole and even the Dorset Coast. Cottage was very well equipped, lovely furnishings - just perfect. There was a gorgeous log burner in the lounge, of which we did not need to use but are tempted to go back in the winter!!
Good value pub down the road - walking distance. The cottage was a great place to relax after exploring the surrounding areas.
Parking very easy too - always right outside the cottage.
