“A super one-night stay!”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

We stayed at Seymour's Court for one night after a day out in Bath. It was easy to find, even in the dark, and despite being not far off the A36, it felt suitably secluded - the stars were fantastic! A warm welcome from Jane greeted us, making us feel instantly at home. The room was spacious, full of period charm and made for a very comfortable night. In the morning we were treated to a delicious breakfast, including a wide selection of cereals, homemade preserves and of course the traditional full-English. The home-reared sausages were a particular favourite.
Overall, a great way to break up our trip. The medieval farmhouse is a fabulous building and we would have loved to have stayed longer and explore the surrounding area more.

We were visiting relatives in Beckington and decided to treat ourselves to a night at Seymours Court and what a treat it was! As soon as we arrived Jane was on the drive to greet us and we were instantly made to feel very welcome into the family home. She was the perfect hostess - we knew that if we needed anything it really wasn't any trouble but at the same time we were left to have complete privacy. The house oozes history and character and at the same time is a beautiful working farm. As for the breakfast.....well, book yourself a break and you'll find out!!

My partner and I stayed at Seymours Court for just one night before our trip to Longleat. It was a very last minute decision to stay the night, and we are so glad that we chose this bed and breakfast.

I couldn't get over the grandeur of the building, and we instantly felt welcomed by Jane. Our room was very comfortable, spacious and had everything that we needed for a pleasant night's stay. The shower was very powerful, bed was lovely and the television huge! We felt relaxed and at home.

Jane recommended a restaurant in a nearby village called the Foresters, which had lovely food and very friendly staff, and was only a short walk away.

Breakfast was delicious, I particularly enjoyed the sausages which were reared on site in the farm.

Thank you for the wonderful stay Jane, it was lovely meeting you, Tess and Pip :) We shall definitely be returning soon, and I will be recommending Seymours court to everyone.

Me and my partner stayed here for two nights and we both thought the place and owners were just great! Jane was lovely and made us feel right at home.
Seymours Court is in a great location as it isn't far from the main roads but is far enough away that you dont really hear the traffic. Also isn't far from a couple of local pubs which are easily within walking distance. Lovely and scenic surroundings as it is a working farm so there is countryside all around. Very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The bed was probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in too. Both the room and bathroom were spotless. Breakfast was very nice with a good selection on offer. There were lots of little personal touches that you just don't get with your chain hotels. The room and bathroom had lots of little things that you may need which again you wouldn't find in most hotels.

All in all a lovely place to stay. We just wish we could have stayed longer.
We will probably make this place an annual trip because it is just perfect.

Seymour Court is a lovely old historic house on a working farm in a beautiful location. We booked both rooms which were very comfortable and private. Jane was welcoming and relaxed. We all felt quite at home. The local pub is just a stroll down the lane serving great pub food. We woke to the dawn chorus, hot showers and a very hearty full breakfast.

I really loved this place. Sleeping in a fifteenth century country house is a dream for most Americans, if not most Brits, I am sure. Add to this a genuine and warm welcome from Jane, the lady of the house - she met me at the gate and showed me all round the house upon arrival - and excellent food for breakfast (hens' eggs from the farm, Jane's own jams and marmalade, meat from the neighbouring farm), and I would recommend Seymours Court wholeheartedly.

At £70 a night, it represents good value. I booked via the Visit Bath website which (I discovered later) retains a 10 percent deposit. I'll book direct with Jane next time and would suggest otehr guests do too, as this is a family business.

The house itself is the star. I lay there in the comfortable and enormous bed, snuggled under the duvet, and looked up: the huge wooden beams in the ceiling must have been made from massive trees back in the fifteenth century - so when were those trees planted..?

The tranqulity of Seymours Court allows the mind to wander like this (!) and even though this is a working farm, there is very little - if any - noise at all (other than the chirping birds at dawn).

Jane keeps the room and bathroom (and the whole house) spotlessly clean and well stocked with amenties (shower gel, shampoo, handwash, hand cream all in generous supply): I especially enjoyed having fresh milk rather than UHT for my morning brew.

Spot the Westbury White Horse from the bathroom window (it is far away but you can see it!) and enjoy the experience of being in such an ancient home.

There is ample parking and it is easy to find. Beckington offers some beautiful old buildings and two pubs (The Foresters Arms serves excellent fresh food in abundant portions along with local ales - no muzak and no fruit machines - and is about 15 minutes gentle stroll along the lane), as well as easy access to the A36 road from Bath to Southampton.

Looking for somewhere to hunker down and chill out or to cuddle up and escape the world? I'd suggest Seymours Court is worth considering.

And if you really, really can't do without it, there is free Wifi and excellent mobile phone reception.

Room Tip: There is only one guest room at Seymours Court

We didn't stay here ourselves but we had our wedding here so guests stayed and they all raved about their time here. Jane was brilliant at looking after us and all of our guests. The house was the perfect backdrop for all of our photos and the location was perfect - hidden away from the main road but within perfect distance to Bath, Frome etc. Would highly recommend!
