Description: Welcome to the Port of Call. I have been reliably informed that this was the 3rd house to be built in New Quay. Nestled between traditional stone built houses and shops this characterful place always offers a warm welcome. Home prepared/cooked food and fresh locally produced ingredients offer you the taste of West Wales. Take a boat trip to see the dolphins playing in the Bay or just sit and have a glass of something cold while watching the sea from our terrace.

“port of call - the personal touch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2012

We attended this quaint olde world restaurant a number of times last year (2011) which is run by Richard who has been there for over 30 years. The food is excellent with plenty of variation, beautifully cooked and well presented. The staff are very friendly and attentitive to our every need.Nothing was too much trouble for them. The steaks are recommended! They sell fine wines which along with the food are very reasonably priced.
Occasionally music nights for 'diners only' are held which includes a 3 course meal for £20 followed by a good singer who performs some of the old classics.Diners usually have a good dance to finish capping a great evening and without being gate crashed by late comers!

“Pretty decent overall - but take cash with you...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2011

Went for an evening meal as a group of 8, inc. 3 children. Most of us had perfectly acceptable food - one meal was sent back as cold, and the beef in the beef curry was only OK. Prices reasonable for the food especially compared to other local restaurants - the Wellington looked great and has good reviews but was expensive so we gave it a miss. Drinks are pricey in the Port of Call - £3 for a can of beer, with nothing on draught. The drinks were £33 out of a total bill of £88 with no desserts, but the welcome and service was good and the atmosphere and decor nice. I've docked one star for being 'cash only' - they really should accept cards in 2011 - or is that a bit harsh? My tips for the owners - get some beer on draught, and install a card machine.
