Excellent pint of Brains. The food was fine. My wife loved her Garlic Mushrooms. The staff were very nice & friendly but - a comment I would make about New Quay generally - do wish that staff who can converse with customers in the Welsh Language would wear a small badge stating that this is the case. Should a policy in Brains pubs.

If you are looking for a lunchtime alternative to ‘fish and chips in a box’ or a ‘burger in a bun’ and you happen to be in New Quay then this is the place. You can sit outside and watch the world go by and watch the small people dangling their crab lines off the wall in the distant harbour. A good menu selection ranging from steaks or jacket potatoes to sandwiches and baguettes. Reasonably priced and, in spite of it being a busy day in late August, the service was excellent and given by happy smiling staff – good coffee for those who like something with some flavour.

We were not aware that this was a hotel so I am unable to comment on this aspect of The Penwig’s business.

Together with my wife and 6yr old granddaughter, we recently had a meal at The Penwig. The price was very reasonable, and the food excellent. We had a table close to the window, and the views across the bay were breathtaking.

This B&B is in a great location, it has amazing views of the harbour and Cardigan Bay. The bedroom we had was a good 4 star, lovely decoration and very clean. The breakfast was good on both mornings and staff are very friendly. We had an evening meal on one night, it was pub food, very nice and good value. For a very nice evening meal try the Treath restaurant next door. We will be visiting New Quay again and we will stay in the Penwig. £60 a night B&B is well worth paying, the dolphins are a major plus for this small town.

Room Tip: Book early and request a front of pub room.
