I can't really discribe my first impression, De Zuilen is a very kitchy place. The location is very nice, but I have no idea what the intention is with that place. There is a mix and overflow of styles and it looks very messy.
My mom and I had lunch there and walked around some time from the restaurant to the 'café'. We didn't feel like eating pancakes and therefore sat at the restaurant part on the big terrace. The guests were elderly playing cards and having coffee.
A couple of littles dogs were running around peeing on the chairs, I have no idea if they belong to the place...
We ordered a salad (i had apple and walnuts and my mom had the goat cheese salad). The waitresses are very young and unexperienced, and unfortunately not very attentive. It took a long time before out salad came and they looked identical except that mine didn't have goat cheese. The taste was bland, but the serving pretty big. Nobody came to check up on us or to ask if we wanted more drinks, nor asking if we wanted coffee afterwards. After paying we left and no one say goodbye to us. Somehow i guess the staff was overwelmed maybe?
Anyways, it was a 'fun' experience, because from the outside you really have no idea what to expect.
The one toilette outside was pretty dirty :/ I guess they could at least keep it clean.
