Lovely hotel

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 1, 2016
Brilliant location, fantastic pool, and run by a lovely family. Nothing too much bother, we decided to get a later flight and stay an extra couple of nights and George couldn't have been more helpful we even managed to keep the same room.

Lovely, clean hotel. Staff were very friendly and more than helpful. As mentioned before, Jet2 don't have any sea-view rooms, but George the owner very kindly up-graded us for free! So many thanks for that George!
Rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean - cleaned daily and towels changed every other day. We stayed 10 nights and had 3 bed-linen changes as well. Yes, ok the showers are very tiny, but there was always hot water and wrestling with the wet shower curtain just added to the fun! Breakfast a wee bit of a let down - same every morning - but it filled a gap and there are plenty of places very close by that offer full-English etc - all at very reasonable prices. The beach is lovely and no more than a few paces away - perfect for beach lovers like us! Alykes is an amazing place - sooo laid back it is almost horizontal! Have got to mention the Palm Tree Bar just down the street - Sakis & Nikos are the best barmen ever! So friendly & welcoming - play lots of great music too - mainly 60's-70's stuff - just my cup of tea! Fun & relaxing holiday in a friendly hotel in a great location. Would I stay here again? YES! without doubt!

This small hotel has a great position- right in the centre of Alykes, it backs on to the beach and if you are going on a boat trip the jetty is just behind the hotel. It has recently been refurbished so the rooms are comfortable and very clean. The room has a television (BBC World in English),a good sized fridge but no hair dryer and a safe deposit box is available in reception. The recently added pool is lovely with Jacuzzi jets at one end. Sun beds are very comfortable with lovely thick cushions however the staff would need to remove these when it rains as after a thunderstorm one evening we spent the next three days with wet bottoms every time we sat down! The breakfast is below average however, with the only real taste of Greece the yogurt and honey. Many people chose to go next door to the beach bar for breakfast and it served a great range of food, coffees etc. With a bit of imagination this could be done at the hotel to attract the clients to stay there. Rooms at the front face the road and can be noisy so it is worth trying to get a sea view room as the turquoise colour of the water is very inviting to look out at. You may be asked to pay a supplement for these rooms however! Wifi coverage was not good in our room but no problem in the reception /pool area. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay and the staff were all very helpful. We would certainly stay here again.

Room tip: Sea view room for view and they are quieter.

Just returned from a really lovely holiday at the Ionian Star. A lovely small hotel run by a very welcoming family. The hotel is in a great spot overlooking the sea, there is a wonderful pool which is new for this year surrounded by new beautiful and comfortable sunbeds. The breakfast consists of bread, jams, eggs, fruit, cereal and yogurt which was very enjoyable sat outside a few yards from the sea. The resort is very pleasant with some nice small shops and restaurants. We will certainly be returning.

Room tip: Upgrade to sea view if available

Nice little hotel with now a lovely swimming pool added. Staff are wonderful here all friendly and very pleasant.Breakfast overlooking the ocean every morning is most enjoyable, food consists of cereal, boiled eggs, bread, cake, yoghurt and tinned peaches. Tea and coffee is also available but water for tea is rarely hot as it sits in a kettle just ask staff and it can be remedied.Accommodation -room is spacious enough with fridge, wardrobe bedside chests etc; however;shower much too small, hence floor can get quite wet no matter how careful you are, need to be extra careful on exit!!!!!! bed not very comfortable as springs are sticking through mattress, so a few updates and this hotel would be perfect.Weather was perfect and area surrounding ideal for walking through the little villages finding coffee shops and bars, the local people are so friendly and love to chat,a few nice restaurants beside hotel and a short walk brings you to an exceptional one , turn left outside hotel and find it, PARADISO.

Room tip: Rooms facing sea do not get sun in the afternoon. Rear rooms face on to the main street may be noisy in peak season.
