My boyfriend and I stayed in the Sea View for 1 week in september and we had the holiday of a life time. The hotel was lovely and the views were unreal. We especially loved the little wooden walkway that took you right from the hotel grounds and into the water!

We spent a lot of time down at the Paradise Apartments, the pool was lovely and we felt really welcome although we weren't staying there. The Paradise bar was great and the food was really nice too.

We hired a quad bike 3 days out of the 7 and took it right round the whole island, I would highly recommend this as we never got lost and the buses took hours to get anywhere. The quad was 10 euros for the day from Dennis Rentals on the main road in Alykes, you can also pay extra to put fuel in at his shop too. Our quad bike adventures were definitely the highlight of our holiday, we took the costal road one day and we found so many stunning hidden beaches (xgia beach is a must see and has natural collagen springs)

We took a boat round to the shipwreck and it was such a lovely trip, I would try and go early or as it gets quite crowded, luckily we were last there so we got the whole beach to ourselves for a while after the other boats left.

Highly recommend the turtle trip and keri caves too!

I didn't expect it to be so hot in september but the weather was amazing although nearer the end of our holiday we had a storm that caused a power cut for a few hours. (Apparently quite common at that time of year!

Lastly, All I can say is you will absolutely love this place if you are the adventurous type who doesn't laze by a pool the whole holiday. There is SO much to see and do and I will definitely go back in the future.

Enjoy!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in a huge room looking right over the sea, it was either number 1 or 2. The only negative...

the only place to be if you like a quiet relaxed location close to safe swimming with nice gardens to relax in the sun

fabulous apartments and studios - tastefully decorated and very well mainatined - clean , tidy with an abundant change of linen and towels and very fine private balconies

the owners and staff are unobtrusive but there when you need them - open and friendly

beautiful views over to Kefalonia and to Greece

although at the edge of the village - supermarkets , bus stops , car rentals and restuarants are only a short and pleasant walk

in all - the only place to be

Room Tip: if you like the sea - go for a studio

My wife and I have just returned from our first visit to Zante, and it won't be our last. We stayed at the Seaview apartments, which are top notch. The views from our balcony were stunning from sunset to dusk. Apartments are kept spotless by two very pleasant and hard working cleaners, one of whom doubles up as a horse and carriage taxi driver at night.
Staff were really pleasant and helpful as well, and the cat that belongs to the apartments is such a friendly wee thing. Only downside, and it's not a slight on the apartment owners, but perhaps something that Thomas Cook could look into in the future,is that there is no courtesy room for people to get freshened up in if their flight is late afternoon or early morning. Didn't really bother my wife and I, but it may possibly affect people with children.
A must do trip is on wee Spiro's Trianaki well worth the 12 euro's, and the free wine tasting that's included is even better....we enjoyed this so much that we went on it again to the Greek night Spiro's does at the weekend's, another value for money trip.

We were in Alykes first two weeks in August first impressions as you walk up to the Sea view Hotel are impressive but not as impressive as when you open your balcony doors views are Fabulous over the sea and beyond , sea view has lovely gardens with free sunbeds you could nearly always get a bed .(if the sunbed mafia hadn't got there first , ha ha ) a little boardwalk helps you miss the pebbles to get into the lovely warm sea which is very safe even for the youngest kids . The rooms are cleaned 6 days a week the cleaners are very friendly and will come back later if your still in when they come . Some people complain you don't see the owners AND ?? They are always there somewhere just might not be in the office !! The apartments at the front have the best views but the ones on the side get the sun in the afternoons and also have. Brilliant views they all have patio doors which you can leave open as they also have fly door things (forgot what they are called) that you can close as well as shutters when shut make the room really dark so you get a good nights sleep air conditioning is 5 euros a day and safe is 10 euros a week .The resident grey cat is very friendly please feed !!!! Alykes is a great resort you can eat in a different restaurant every night and I can honestly say I never had a bad meal in any of them . The Apollo taverna is the nearest the food and staff are both brilliant . Special shout out to the Apollo pool bar so chilled out at lunch time dead friendly and cheap for lunch , also the Parsdise is great just a bit more noisey . You have to get the little train really brilliant trip if you get a good crowd on the food at the taverna for lunch is beautiful you have to pay for it but well worth it THE WINE IS FREE AND CANNY STRONG !! Remember to wave and everyone will wave back and I mean Everyone from people picking grapes to wagon drivers really good laugh! All the bars are really chilled as expected in Greece some lovely ones on the Beach see the white double beds in one, just a short 15 min walk you will be in Alykinas some bigger shops and watersports then get a horse and carrage back about 10 euro watch out for your cleaner he's the best ! For treats go to the supermarket bakery everything pure lush !! On the way home got to the Virago bar very friendly careful of cocktails strong . The little supermarket next door is really good for bit and bobs ESSPECIALLY water cos its not far to carry . The only problem with this place is you meet really lovely people you have to leave them also some of them lend you bikes still saddle sore now p&g love you all . Will definitely go back oneday loved it so will you !!!!

Stayed at the Seaview for three weeks in June 2013; the hotel deserves an accolade as providing one of the best views in Greece from a hotel balcony. The views of the garden with Kefalonia in the distance were breath-taking, a real treat.

As seasoned travellers to Greece we rated the apartments quite high in comparison to many that we have stayed in. If you expect very basic kitchen and bathroom facilities then you will not be disappointed. A bonus was the inclusion of a hairdryer, a TV and the daily cleaning and regular changing of towels and sheets. The linen and towels were a bit grey and thin but this is a two star not five star hotel.

The village of Alykes is only 10-15 minute walk away: the large salt flats to the left of the road are a haven for wild birds in the winter and spring; the little stream that feeds into them was jumping with small fish. Take some spare bread and feed them on your way to the village, great fun.

There is a charming little canal/river with a beautiful stone bridge in Alykes, we were delighted to see silver fish leaping into the air, again the canal was teeming with fish

For a fun day out you must try the trainaki, Spiros, (Richard Branson of Alykes) drives his little road train into the mountains for a memorable visit to his exquisite folk museum, followed by a meal at his taverna. Be warned the village wine is free and very free flowing. The train was considerably merrier on the way back. Loved the way that everyone waved as the train passed by, a Greek Disneyland. Spiros also holds Greek nights at his tavern, fantastic entertainment with fire dancing, plate and tile smashing and the hilarious napkin throwing!!!!!

The bay was so shallow that you could walk out a considerable distance. WARNING the sand is extremely fine so be careful with cameras as I have ruined mine by getting sand granules in the mechanism

Tavernas and restaurants are plentiful in the village and if you fancy a trip to Zante town then the bus is a cheap and dependable way of travelling there. We hired a jeep for three days, driving was considerably less scary than in Kefalonia!!! The villages in the mountains are worth a visit as they sell some gorgeous home made produce, the wine and oil are particularly good

The fruit and vegetables were superb, freshly picked they were bursting with flavour so do not be afraid to do some self catering. I also loved the fresh feta cheese which came in large barrels and was wrapped up in waxed paper, yum

We would not usually stay at the same resort twice but for the sheer chill-out factor, the beauty of the place and the friendly people then we will be back next year.

Last and sad note is that there are stray puppies that are abandoned by Greek residents, I managed to rescue one. The magnificent 'Zante Strays' took the puppy in that I rescued and will re-home him. It only costs £350 euro's to get a Greek stray dog or cat neutered, chipped, injected and brought to your home in Europe (after checks). There is no quarantine for these poor little mites now so if you find an abandoned cat or dog do not be afraid to rescue it. Please give generously to the charity when you are at the island they depend on our money

Room Tip: All room have a view so just chill

We have just arrived back from staying at the Seaview hotel. These apartments are exellent if you want a quiet, chilled holiday relaxing by the Ionian Sea. The Seaview has a garde to relax in and a boardwalk leading you over the stones into the sandy bed of the sea. We found it ideal. The rooms are modern and clean. The husband and wife cleaning duo are hardworking and very helpful. Alykes has some lovely restaurants and bars all within walking distance from the Seaview, as is the sandy beach. Next to Alykes is Alakanes which has water sports, many restaurants and a sandy beach. This is walking distance or horse and carriage ride from Alykes. Trainaki is a small road train that takes you from Alykes through the countryside to a folkmuseum and a lovely taverner were you can buy lunch and within the price of the train are given local wine. This is well worth 12 euros. We will go back to Seaview next year.
