“HOPELESSLY IN LOVE”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

First of all, the reason you are looking at this hotel is because you are planning a trip to Goa? You may have been before or it could be your first time. HAVE NO DOUBTS THE BOGMALLO BEACH RESORT IS MAGNETIC, IT KEEPS PULLING YOU BACK, ITS ADDICTIVE, ITS TRUELY MAGICAL. What more can we say.

THE STAFF are very attentive and just aim to please, EVEN THE LESS EXPIERIENCED JUST WANT TO BE OF SERVICE, BY NAMING SOME WOULD BE AN INJUSTICE TO THE REST, WE WITNESSED QUITE RUDE BEHAVIOUR BY SOME GUEST BUT THERE WAS NO NEGATIVITY IN RESPONSE WHAT SO EVER.

THE LOCATION, in a quiet corner of Goa, RIGHT ON THE BEACH, CLOSE TO THE AIRPORT, WITH A VILLAGE FEEL TO IT, SOME GREAT WALKS THROUGH THE PALM TREE FORESTS WALKING PAST ALL THE LOCAL RESIDENTS AND THEIR HOMES, AND THEY ALL WEAR A SMILE AND HAVE A KIND GREETING, LITTLE PIGGLETS AND TINY CHICKS IN MOST PLACES, AND SOME LOVELY HOMES. THE SHOPS AND STALLS AS USUAL WANT YOU TO VISIT INSIDE BOTH FOR YOU TO PUCHASE AND TO SHOW OFF THERE STOCK, BARTER WITH THE JEWELLERY SHOPS AND YOU WILL GET A BARGAIN.

THE HOTEL, well a little tired maybe but what a place, all the front desk staff and customer service are all friendly and happy to be of service, FROM THE MOMENT YOU WALK INTO RECEPTION THE ATMOSPHERE HITS YOU, LOOK UP TO THE CEILING TO SEE THE DETAIL, LOOK OUT TO SEA TO KNOW AND FEEL HOW CLOSE YOU ARE TO THE BEACH, LOOK DOWN THE VERANDA AND SEE HOW CLEAN THE TILED FLOOR IS, LOOK OUT OVER THE GARDEN TO SEE THE CARE TAKEN AND HOW TIDY IT IS, THE ROOMS ARE VERY NICELY DECORATED, CLEAN, TIDY,all sea facing with good a/c and clean bathrooms and nice furniture.

THE FOOD, all freshly prepared and enough of it, all tasty and well presented and reasonably priced for a hotel, IF YOU REQUIRE SOMETHING A LITTLE SPECIAL THEN JUST ASK, the staff will always try to help.

THE BEACH SHACKS, are they safe to eat at? where shall we start, to be fair you will soon discover your own favoutites but to list some of them, THE FULL MOON, WAVES, DOMS SEA CUISINE, JOHNY SEAGULLS, JOETS, CLOUDIS, ALL BANG ON, TOP CHOICES, FRESH SEA FOOD, LOW PRICES, FRIENDLY AND CLEAN,we used them all again and again and not once did we have a tummy problems, THESE PLACES ARE TOTALLY PROFESSIONAL WHEN IT COMES TO FOOD QUALITY, THEY CAN'T AFFORD NOT TO BE, THEY WANT YOU TO COME BACK AND RECOMMEND THEM. I MAY HAVE MISSED A FEW, BUT YOU WILL FIND THEM OUT.

TO SUMMERSIZE, The hotel was, once a top 5* establishment catering for the largest of holiday companies that seem to have milked the profits from it and therefore slowed down its progress. It has got all you will need and more, quite a lot of the staff have been there for many years and their presence makes it a special place to be, because they are very PROUD and should be. As we have said it is very addictive with many guests returning time and time again, that said there will always be some people you can't please. This was our 4th visit to Goa and our second time at Bogmallo, other hotels have their own charm I suppose but all in all this one ticks all the boxes, not too far out to visit places like Vasco with its amazing markets a bus ride away or Margoa, a short taxi ride, or even old Goa. We stayed for 3 weeks this time which included xmas and it was brilliant, the hotel did really well with the decor, and so did all of the village, carol singers on xmas eve at most resturants and all visiting the surrounding houses too. Every one has a smile, not just to get your money, they are genuinley pleased to see and meet you.

You are in India, you are going to see a few things you're not used too, like a couple of dogs on the beach, don't bother them and they will not bother you, litter and plastic bottles strewn around, but ask youself, what would you do if no one collected your rubbish, they don't have refuse collection. Go have a great time and take little notice of the scare mongering bad reviews, Thanks for reading this and I hope it helps.

Room Tip: As most reviewers will state, some of the higher levels offer you a better view with spectacular sun...

Have spent two separate weeks here at the end of Goan holidays. Would thoroughly recommend it as a peaceful stop off point before flying home - only five minutes from airport. Rooms are spacious with tremendous views over bay and beach. Staff are helpful and friendly and every need is taken care of - breakfasts are amazing!

This resort is located away from the usual picnic spots of Goa..right on the beach..which is one of the few beaches which is not at all crowded in Goa.
The staff are very friendly...reflecting the Goan way of friendship.
The rooms are quite big...my room was facing the sea..I think all rooms face the sea only.
Even the hotel is quite old, it is well maintained and seems to be getting updated regularly...wide flat screen TVs, good coffee maker etc etc.
The food is very good and the resturant is almost on the beach.
One big advantage of this resort is its closeness to the airport.
Over all a very happy stay

At the outset, I must confess that Bogmallo beach resort has a special place in my life. I was about 3-4 yrs old when I saw the construction of the hotel begin (wasn't around when it got over) and during that time, our family used to frequent Bogmallo beach almost daily. I made two very good childhood friends there (who are still my friends). So, there are many old memories attached with this place. However, My review shall be clinical and honest( god... give me the strength!!!).

The first thing that strikes you about the approach to the place is "how secluded this road is". The beach is about 3 kms from the highway. The second thought "How did these guys ever get the permission to build it right next to the waterline ". I mean, the hotel starts right at the edge of the high tide line and shall be the first one to be flooded in the event of global warming!.

The approach is crowded with many shops (as is the norm for all goan beaches). But once you enter the gate, its calm, quiet and looks spacious. The main foyer is quite nice but its age seems to be telling. The staff was courteous and prompt. I was checked in pretty quickly and allotted a room on the sixth floor. On my way to the room, the elevator was completely consumed by me, the bellboy and my bags!! It's that small. However, there a two of them, so its not that bad. Another thing, All the rooms have a view of the beach and from the sixth floor (top most floor), it was awesome...
The room was quite big and had all the trappings of a five star- LCD tv, nice bath room, cupboard, two beds, writing desk, central ac etc. What I liked the most was - A lovely balcony overlooking the beach and a small seating area in front of the TV.

Meals for guest were in a separate restaurant - Nautilus , in the main foyer. The breakfast spread was quite good with all the essentials (eggs to order, coffee, two juices, south indian menu, poha...a whole lot more). Lunch and dinner too were good. The staff were courteous and what I liked was they gave you food at the table on request and hot breads... :)

The Sunset bar in the Main foyer was excellent and pretty reasonable for a five star (Maybe because they had to compete with the excellent shack restaurants outside on the beach). The pool was beautiful and overlooked the beautiful beach. Opposite the bar was a long corridor with white and black tiles (giving that colonial look and feel, with seating overlooking the beach - called the Verandah Coffee Shop. At the end, there was the Coconut Grove - a multi-cuisine restaurant with an interesting decor. Overall the food was about 3-3.5 star - room for improvement.

The USP of the beach is that it is secluded, has one of the best sunsets I have seen in Goa, and has some lovely shacks serving great goan food and ambiance - Joets is one of them.
Location is 10 mins from the airport, center of goa - both North and south goa are equi-distant.
The hotel has spa's, a reasonable gym and all other trappings that a five star has.

The best part about the hotel is the location - Great for honeymooners and people who want seclusion. For Business, its proximity to the airport is a big plus...
All in all, the hotel has a few grey areas in food but overall the experience was very good.

Room Tip: Try to get the sixth floor and room nos from 600 to 615 as they have the best view.

We'd booked a room in this hotel for a short trip of 3 days 2 nights...Booking experience was very good as the Mktg Manager Sunil gave us a very good deal. We landed there at 6 am all sleepy and drowsy but the minute we stepped out the car... the cool refreshing breeze coming straight from the sea hits you... We fell in love with the hotel that very moment. The staff was kind enough to give us a room 6 hours before the check in time, and they had given us a room at a higher floor with a better view. Rooms were clean and cosy and all of them are sea facing... The next thing we can't get over with is the food right from the breakfast to food served in room service especially the herbes calamari its to die for...
Very well maintained and the staff was very polite and helpful... I loved the pool as it gives somewhat of a infinity pool effect...
Coming to location... its just 10 mins away from the airport and the best part its the only hotel on the Bogmallo beach so its not that crowded... as its bang on the beach there is a direct access... YOu also have 1 - 2 shacks on this beach if you feel like tasting local food. There is tons and tons of more beautiful things about this hotel which i suggest you should discover and experience on your own...
Overall its one of the best hotel we have stayed so far on all parameters!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at a higher level for a better view and if you get a corner one... nothing like it.

I checked into Bogmallo Beach Resort for the New Year Weekend…and trust me it was the best new years, I and my sisters had in a while. The moment you enter the lobby of the resort you are rejuvenated by the breeze coming from the sea. No matter how tiring journey you have undergone the lobby replenishes you. It’s not the usual lobby done in golden light and with AC on full blast. It’s a huge open lobby with lots of natural light and ventilation. If you haven’t planned anything you can just sit in the lobby facing the beach and enjoy the pristine beach and glorious sunset. The rooms are spacious and have a soothening décor. They are very comfy with a large balcony giving you a stunning view of the beach. The bathrooms are clean, dry and are equipped with a bathtub too. The pool is large and fabulous. It also faces the beach. So you can enjoy a quick dip while listening to the close-by sound of waves. I also happened to visit the in-house spa for a Swedish massage that was exhilarating. There are other options too that you can give a try. The new years party was a grand and well organized affair with good food and rocking band and dj. The room service was quick. The food was fabulous. The staff was very cordial, soft-spoken, helpful and may I add good looking too. This is a one resort you must consider while planning your trip to Goa.

Husband and I stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks in November 2012 to celebrate a birthday. After reading some of the reviews we were a little apprehensive but we were delighted with the hotel and the staff. On arrival we were greeted with a cold glass of fruit juice and after checking in our bags were in our room before we arrived. Room was very spacious with an excellent view of the Arabian Sea. We were allocated a room on the 5th floor which was very quiet and suited us very well. We booked bed and breakfast and the staff in the dining room could not have been more helpful the same can be said of all the staff.

We would normally spend our time on the beach but due to the new laws regarding sunbeds on the beaches the only sunbeds availabe where around the hotel pool which could get very crowded (most of the guests being cabin crew from both Thomas Cook and Monach airlines) so you had to stake your claim very early in the morning to ensure you got a bed. Apart from that I would recommend this hotel and will certainly return again.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor- fabulous views.
