Hotel is about 5 min plus from the airport. If you make a reservation in advance, they will pick you up at the airport (also bring you to the airport when you go home) It's not gorgeous but very comfortable. Room has almost everything you need, shower, bathtub, toothbrush, towels, bathrobes, hair dryer, shampoo, soap, TV, DVD player, tea pot, Japanese tea, air conditioner, fridge, etc. You don't need to bring anything. Breakfast is Japanese style or Western style. If today is Japanese style, tomorrow is Western style.

This island does not have many restaurants, so if you want to have dinner at the hotel, you must tell them in advance. But even if you forget, they will find a restaurant for you:)

The rooms were very nice, and the staff friendly and helpful (despite our lack of Japanese, they persevered in trying to communicate with us. It worked for the most part although there were a few misunderstandings!)

The main downside was the location. It would have been fine had we had a car (I really recommend hiring one if going to Hachijojima), but it was the other side of the island from the onsen, waterfalls etc and about a 40 minute walk from the tourist information office. Trying to get to places (and more importantly, back again) with the infrequent bus service and prohibitively expensive taxis was less than ideal. It was far too cold to go to the beach while we were there, but the sea area in front of the hotel is right next to a quite industrial looking port, so I can't imagine it would be very inviting even in better weather.

The owner was kind enough to pick me up upon arrival at the airport, which is less than 10 minutes drive. A great hospitality without being intrusive. The balinaise themed interior with a tatami floor, a great combination to relax. DVD was available for rent for free of charge over 1,000 titles. Breakfast was well prepared and presented. The location cannot be better, just a few steps from the beach and just a nice 10-minute walk to where great local restaurants are located. Simply splendid.
