“Beautiful hotel! The Best in Santa Catalina!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2013

My family stayed at the Santa Catalina hotel over the Christmas Holiday and enjoyed every minute of our stay! I have visited Santa Catalina multiple times and have stayed in a variety of hotels in the area, the Santa Catalina Hotel is by far the best in the town. The Hotel is in a great location, close to both the beaches and local restaurants. The rooms are a great value and have every amenity that you can think of including comfortable beds, internet access, hot water, a breakfast bar, fridge, everything. The rooms were very clean and the staff was fantastic. Their are comfortable hammocks all over. The property is landscaped with gorgeous palms and flowers. The hotel also offers free bikes, surfboards and kayaks for guests which save you money on rentals. Jd267 is a fool that has obviously never visited this amazing, homely hotel and anyone taking his "review" seriously is going to miss out on a absolutely lovely stay. Now that my family has found this gem we never plan to stay anywhere else in the future. Hotel Santa Catalina is by far the best in the business and the best in Santa Catalina! Thanks for such an amazing time! Can't wait until next year! =D

This is our second visit to this beautiful village and our first visit staying at the Santa Catalina Hotel. Last year, because we arrived over the Christmas Holidays without hotel reservations, we had to stay at two different hotels and found both of them to lack service and hot water. The Santa Catalina Hotel is first class. Plenty of towels, comfortable beds, shower supplies, and we even had a furnished kitchen with a large refrigerator, microwave and two burner stove.

The grounds are beautifully groomed. The beach area behind the hotel was tranquil, clean and quiet. My family thoroughly enjoyed their four day stay with plenty of fun activities to keep everyone happy.

We definitely recommend a stay at the Santa Catalina Hotel.

Ever since I was a teenager, I wanted to visit Santa Catalina, remotely located in Veraguas province. The radio commercial I listened to back in the late 1980's from the now defunct "Estereo Panamá" gconjured images of a surfing hot spot with huge waves where die hard backpacking surfers from the world over would meet. 26 years later, I finally got to visit Sta Catalina. My wife chose Hotel Sta Catalina because of the neatness, the decor, the safety, and the spectacular view of La Punta (the Point). Rooms were clean, beds comfortable, silent A/C, serviceable staff (top-notch manager who helped us with finding dinner the afternoon we arrived), showers with hot water (only a minor fault with the shower head), and great breakfast, especially the banana nut pancakes. We stayed for two nights, after that we didn´t want to leave.

I stayed a few nights. The staff was not freindly to me and my wife. The "king" mattress was two twins with a big gap between. Also the bathroom has a funky smell. I felt for the price it really didn't deliver.

We reported this review as suspicious (most likely written by a competitor), as we have no record of anyone from Seattle staying at our hotel during this time period and the statements made are not true. There is no "gap" in our king size beds (they are memory foam beds), and there is no "funky" smell in our bathrooms, plus our staff is always friendly to our guests.

We stayed at Hotel Santa Catalina for 3 nights, and it was a first class place. Clean, comfortable rooms, super cool air conditioning, super high ceilings, amazingly comfortable beds, tv, hot water, kitchen in our room, and great service from the staff, especially the manager she was amazingly helpful with organizing snorkeling and horseback riding tours for us, and then she arranged for a nice massage to ease some very tired sore muscles. It could not have been a better location, right on the beach with a nice open spot for watching the surfers on the point. They even had a beach front fire pit for roasting marsh mellows in the evenings. The restaurant has a great breakfast and lunch. Try the curry grilled fish with coconut rice and salad, it's amazing! They let us use their kayak for free so we paddled out to the beach on the beautiful island out front of the hotel at high tide. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Get a suite, they are super spacious and have a kitchen.

Referred to this place as the best place to stay in Santa Catalina for 2 night stay.
Keep in mind Santa Catalina is casual surf town, so finding our room and grounds immaculate was very nice. The bed was comfortable, the area was quiet, and the breakfast delicious (purchased).
The location is very convenient. You can walk to anywhere in town easily from the hotel, yet the place was very quiet.
Although the rooms do not have ocean view, you can walk down the grassy area to the shore for a terrific view.
We would return.

Our stay in Hotel Santa Catalina was ideal. The beds were the best I have ever had in a hotel. There was crankin' AC, a little kitchen, fridge, tasteful decorations, yummy restaurant, lots of hammocks. Best of all was the location, which was right in front of the surf break. Owners & staff were friendly & helpful. Can't say enough positive things. Best place to stay in Catalina by far!

Room Tip: By fitness center, I mean that there is a great wave right out front!
