My girlfriend and I with a group of friends recently made a 3 days trip for the first time to Sta. Catalina and we loved the hotel and those who run it were nothing but great with all of us (Shenida, Evelio $ John). The rooms were clean and sharp specially the beds which were very comfortable. Each room featured a great split A/C system , hot water, a small refrigerators that we took a good advantage of and safety boxes that will go very well if you're a freak with security measures or when leaving out your stuff alone when not at the hotel. If you're just basically going on a surf trip and looking for a place to stay at Sta Catalina Beach then there are other options in the same area that you might want to try BUT if besides going there for surfing you'd like to have a getaway with your couple, family or friends in a very nice hotel then this is the place to visit. The main purpose of our group was to visit Coiba Island which was an amazing experience for all of us. The hotel was so nice that part of our group who was staying in another hotel decided to spend their last night with the rest of us at Hotel Sta. Catalina. In our second night there we took advantage of having the beach as our backyard and we lighted up a mid size barbecue and had some wine which was a very relaxing time with the sound of the waves and enjoyed the sky ceiling with a million starts on it which was just priceless. The hotel is not more than 2-3 minutes from everywhere in the area. We didn't have the chance to taste the food (lunch) at their restaurant but their breakfast was beyond good.

Our sincere respects guys,
Jose & Yessica

The look and feel of this hotel is definately still "Surf Camp". I'm not sure about the other hotels in Santa Catalina but if you are looking for anything "posh" or nice, this is not the place to stay. Honestly, if you aren't 100% in love with the surfing lifestyle, Santa Catalina is probably not for you.

On a positive note: the beds are very comfortable!

Hotel is very well run, rest is supreme, and the rooms are great.

Be warned that this city is a little bit off the grid (no ATMs in town), and no high-speed wi-fi. You'll be able to check your mail, and that is about it.

Definitely a gem in Panama, and worth organizing a tour through them for Coiba Island.

We only stayed there for one night but have no complaints. The staff is great and the rooms are spacious and clean.

One thing to note is that Santa Catalina is VERY small. We didn't stay long because we're not surfers and you can see all you want to see after one day of diving. Highly recommend visiting Isla Coiba. Enjoy!

As we could not check-in into our booked accommodation we decided to go to the Hotel Santa Catalina and it was a very good choice. The rooms are very spacious and very clean, especially to mention are the very comfortable mattresses.Breakfast was very good and around the hotel, in walking distance, were different delicious places to have dinner.
A special thanks to Sandy and Dee, for the care and for the lovely chats.
