With spring weather beckoning we had a ride out following our Good Pub Guide. This pub is a delight. Proper pub, wooden floor, bench seating (with seat cushions), old fashioned bar. Nice range of real ale even on a Wednesday lunchtime - we tried 2 Hobson's & Exmoor Gold and they were all perfect. Very friendly landlord and locals and dogs allowed in the bar. Since this was to be our main meal of the day and we are not pudding people we ordered a starter and a main course each. We were warned that the French Onion Soup & the Garlic Mushrooms would be large for starters and this was not a lie. They were really light mains but truly delicious with loads of fresh crusty bread. We were pretty full before our main courses arrived! I had Ham, Eggs & Chips. If there is nicer ham cooked ham anywhere I have never tasted it - delicious doesn't do it justice; with lovely deep yellow yolked eggs (possibly from the hens running around the garden?) & home made chips it was a meal any cook could have be proud of. My husband had chicken, mushroom & leek pie - stuffed full of chicken with a feather light pastry top. Even though it's hardly local, we will definitely return - but possibly give the 'starters' a miss. Lovely place.

Lovely little building, lovely views, wide selection of beers. My aunty and uncle go here often and i have joined them on three occassion and am expecting to go again for her birthday shortly. We sometimes have different ideas of what makes a good pub but this is somewhere we can all agree on. Reasonably priced and very friendly staff. See you again soon!

I've visited the Bell many times both for food and just drinks and the quality, the service and the general atmosphere is always excellent. For real ale drinkers this award winning CAMRA pub will delight, and the choice of food; from delicious sandwiches to hearty homemade meals will not disappoint. The landlord is the star attraction however and well worth a visit to appreciate what he has built up over the last 15 years. Dog friendly too which is always a bonus!

A pub that has escaped the trend for knocking down walls and enlarging bars. The Bell remains traditional, with wooden floors, hops around the ceilings and log burning stoves. The landlord is a larger than life character, who makes you feel very welcome. A fantastic choice of real ale, dog friendly and good, wholesome food (try the steak pie). Recommended for around the year visits!

We came across this pub by accident on our way to Hopton Wafers and we were desperate for lunch, and we loved it.

The landlord was warm and welcoming and his wife makes the best sandwiches ever. The bread is delicious. We were recommended to share a sandwich but we decided we wanted our own and my goodness do you get a sandwich. Next time we will definately share!

There is a great choice of real ale and the landlord clearly knows his stuff and loves his real ales. Its a proper english pub with hops on the ceiling. There were only 7 of us in the pub yet it still had a great atmosphere and we wished we had a pub like this near us.

The beer garden has some great views and there are chickens roaming around too.
