Having booked to do some wine tasting in Beaune, La Ferme de La Ruchotte was a recommend to me from one of the wine tours to try. The location is off the main road with a very rural feel to it. We had an amazing meal each course so fresh with fantastic flavours the service felt very personal as we were dining in there home. We had some stunning wine at very reasonable prices. I would most certainly visit again

Exceptionally good food - this is cooking with style, finesse and the freshest and most local of ingredients (many from their own farm). A charming welcome. Stay upstairs in their one bedroom to avoid having to drive after an excellent, and kindly priced, Burgundy from their cellar. This is a very special place. Thank you Raymond Blanc for bringing it to our attention, and thank you to Frédéric and Eva, for all the hard work which must go into creating this little rural utopia. We went for the first time in October and spent the next 2 weeks looking forward, with good reason, to our second visit which, when it came, was every bit as good as the first!

Frederic and Eve Menager are an inspiration; totally dedicated to organic farming, truly hospitable, delightful people ( and their sons the most well behaved boys imaginable)
We were taken to collect the eggs from the many varieties of hen on the farm , met the dogs, the cat, the llama, pigs, goats and the beautiful bronze turkeys destined for the Christmas table. Delightful bedroom and bathroom, very comfortable. Dinner prepared for us at the long oak table in the sejour.
We had eggs( the ones collected earlier) with morilles, rabbit with pumpkin, 3 sorts of goat cheese and mirabelle tarte, a marvellous bottle of St Romain 2009 to accompany. It was just delightful and we felt privileged to have been able to share it, if only for one night.
The following day arrangements were made for us to collect some of the St. Romain from the vigneron - another interesting experience as we don't normally slurp rose at 11.00 on a damp September morning- whilst the vendange was taking place around . A fascinating tour of the cave, lovely people.
Burgundy certainly takes some beating. Can't wait to go again.

I stayed at La Ruchotte on a driving tour of France with my my husband and 7 year old son. We had discovered this gem following an appearance on Raymond Blanc's TV programme, so had high expectations (which were soon realised!). They also have a room available, which we took so that my son could go to bed early if he wanted.

It is not a formal restaurant or hotel, and you do need to pre-book. I believe that the proprietor was previously Head Chef at a 3* michelin restaurant in Paris but had given it all up for the peace and quiet of the country. It now has more of a feel of someone inviting you to their house for dinner with a large communal table where everyone eats together at a set time.

The food is absolutely delicious, and the wine list is extensive. There is no choice of menu, so you have to take what is given, but all of the courses we had were excellent. Beautifully cooked and presented, but more rustic than you would expect in a fine dining restaurant. The room we stayed in is also delightful.

We will definitely visit again when we are next in this part of the world.

Ive eaten here twice and the food gives the feeling of comfort, we had a delicious poulet entree cooked in pork fat I think with potatoes and summer veggies, there is no choice if menu here, all the food is grown noir near the farm, slim food cooked perfectly, think Aluce Waters in the Ouche Valley, drank a 2009 Nuit st George's yum yum
