“Absolute luxury.”

Staying at Bellbird Lodge was my "splurge" on my 3 week trip to NZ. It exceeded every expectation I had and was a great value for what I received in return. Wonderful location with breathtaking views, Bellbird Lodge and its hosts, Anthea and Brian, made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. No detail is too small for them, from the amazing breakfasts, to the midday snacks and evening wine and canapés, I ate like a queen during my stay. Each evening I was greeted with a homemade chocolate on my pillow in my bedroom with luxurious linens, a lovely modern bathroom, and a refrigerator along with fruit, coffee and teas. The grounds are beautiful, with lots of birds to sing to you while you eat out on the patio or rest in your own private outdoor space. Brian and Anthea were gracious hosts and we had great conversation over a glass or two of wine. They provided me with great ideas of places to stop on my way to Christchurch and recommended wonderful local spots to check out (Riwaka Resurgence, Hawke's Lookout). Finally, they made extra effort to accommodate my special dietary needs (gluten free) and Anthea baked me fantastic cakes and cookies during my stay. That added touch was just the icing on the cake (so to speak). When I go back to NZ in the future I will make a point to return here and recommend it to anyone I know traveling to the Abel Tasman region.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Magnolia Suite which has a wonderful view of Tasman Bay. Great for watching sunsets.

Believe all the reviews. Beautiful location and lavish grounds. A gardener's dream.

But, it is Anthea and Brian that make this place so special. No detail is too small to escape their attention. A snack awaits you when you come back in the afternoon. A glass of wine and a "nibble" before you go out to dinner, and breakfasts that are a work of art.

Great help in planning day excursions to the Abel Tasman park and Golden Bay. Well deserving of their ranking here.

Room Tip: The front room is a nice bedroom and bath with amazing views from the picture windows and deck. The...

This B&B was one of 3 lodging highlights on our 4 week trip through New Zealand (the other ones were Buffalo Lodge in Coromandel and Chalet Romantica in Paihia). Anthea and Brian both go out of their way to make the guests's stay as comfortable as is humanly possible.

The sumptuous breakfast is unsurpassable, the afternoon tea with great home-baked cake a treat and the view phenomenal. We've never stayed in a more luxurious B&B on any continent (and we have been on all).

Anthea and Brian were perfect hosts! The room was very comfortable with an amazing view. The breakfasts were the best on the South Island--fresh baked croissants, French Toast with carmelized bananas, fresh fruit from the garden--we couldn't ask for anything more. It rained during our stay, so we could not hike in Abel Tasman, but Anthea and Brian had great recommendations for touring in Nelson. Great stay!

This house is really beautiful with some amazing views but the hosts make it a wonder.
The house is located on the hills of Kaiteriteri and you have spectacular views of the bay. The hosts welcomed us on the day of arrival with some afternoon tea accompanied by some homemade cakes and later they shared with us some wine and homemade nibbles. The room we had was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers full of very charming details like a plate with chocolates, a tray with fresh fruits and also some cookies. But the real difference is a personalised welcome note.
The ensuite bathroom has a very nice shower, high quality amenities and thick soft bathing towels, many more than standard. Needless is to say that the whole place is spotless, from the windows to every single corner, there is nothing, absolutely nothing to find.
Brian and Anthea, the owners and hosts, are charming, warm and professional, they welcome you in such a manner that they make you feel at home. Anthea surprised us with a lunch pack for our hiking tour, grateful selection of wines in the afternoon, full support in any bookings or recommendations and a laundry service. She is like a mom and we really enjoyed it. Brian is very British with a great knowledge of the nature and the area. Both are so polite, friendly and great companions during our stay.
Worth to mention is the outstanding breakfast with lots of homemade and fresh baked delicious choices plus a daily warm choice that is amazing in size, taste, presentation and style. An extraordinary wow effect to enjoy on the terrace watching the Bay.
The Bellbird has only two guest rooms, lucky you if you have the chance to grab one of them. This is an outstanding experience that you will never forget.

Thanks Anthea and Brian for the wonderful stay. If can make it back to NZ we will knock on your door again for sure!

I only stayed for a night but Anthea and Brian were great hosts, there were delicious appetisers and wine in the evening and the breakfast is the most delicious i've had in NZ. The views across the bay are stunning and Anthea very kindly recommended and booked dinner for me that evening and a kayaking tour the next day, both of which were excellent.

Spectacular views, beautiful grounds, luxurious and spacious accommodations, but best of all are Bellbird's incredible hosts, Anthea and Brian. Anthea is a gourmet cook, so do not miss her delicious appetizers with wine in the evening, and breakfast is scrumptious with homemade baked goods, stewed fruits, and jams, and if you're as lucky as I was, banana and bacon French Toast. But even more than the wonderful food, Anthea and Brian make you feel like an old friend. They both go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay in Kaiteriteri.
