We stayed at the Torlesse Motel at Christmas time. Given local holidays it was difficult to find an accomodation. The Motel is just 5min from the lovely beach of little Kaiteriteri, which is perfect for swimming and sunbathing. The neighbouring beach can be reached via a short walk and you can catch boats and tours to Able Tasman from there.
The motel rooms were a little old and a bit dark. Its all a big room with a bed and a sitting table on the side. You can also sit on the terrace but quite narrow and not great for eating outdoors. For a couple of days it was alright.
Pls. be aware that restaurants are closed on Christmas Eve, however most shops and restos open on 26 Dec.

On a positive note the motel is in a great location and the rooms are of a good size and have lovely views. However, we felt that the rooms were in need of redecoration and modernisation especially the bathroom and the kitchen area. Paying $170 per night you expect a certain standard of accomodation and perhaps a bit of luxury, but you do not get that here. Definitely over priced.

Very rarely do I write a bad review but we found this place very disappointing. The host was most unwelcoming bordering on being rude. We found the units to be very overpriced. We stayed one night then transferred to the spa resort Kimi Ora. We paid less there for a superb room, gorgeous surroundings - with top rate swimming pools -and a delicious breakfast included. We were also made welcome, went for 2 nights and stayed for 6. No comparison!

A great place to stay. Chilled out and away from hustle and bustle. Only a short walk to Little Kaiteriteri Beach and around the corner from Kaiteriteri.

We stayed in the one bed studio and it was very clean, spacious with its own kitchen, laundry and balcony (enough to sit a few chairs and a table on). Quiet location and private.

Owners helpful when you need them but pretty much stay out of your way for you to enjoy your time quietly. A great balance. We had some laundry that needed drying in the dryer so they took it from us, dried it and delivered it to our room. It was just the little touches that made the difference.

Place to park your car right outside the unit which was great!!

Well furnished, full utensils etc.

We really enjoyed our stay and the area and possibly the only thing they could improve on would be putting sky into their units (as there was a cricket game on when we were there that we really wanted to watch!)

Please note they don't have eftpos so you will need to pay via cash or credit card.
