Flamingo Hotel by the Lake
Ranked #7 of 13 Ampang B&B and Inns
Reviewed March 13, 2014

Arrived from Australia and stayed there for a week. Location is not good.
Had to walk 5 minutes to get to my room from reception.
Rooms were a big disappointment, towels were ran down and dirty. I got dirty towels every day. But that's not ye worst part !
I left this hotel with bed bug bites and scabies ! For your own health do not stay here.

Location :
This hotel is located in Ampang which is too far from the city center so u should pay a lot of money to the taxis which is not very pleasant for me or u can walk about 5 mins to the nearest bus station and take a bus to go to the city center .
Staff and Furniture :
Old Old Old . All of the staffs are out of date and i guess they are for 10 years ago ! So i decide not to talk about it !
View :
Our room view was really something because we had a perfect view of the lake so i enjoyed it very much with my friend !
Conclude :
Not advised !

Room Tip: If u want to get this hotel just consider that u get a lake view room .

This hotel says it is strategically located....yes at the junction of a motorway...it is extremely hard to get in and out of at peak hour traffic......By a Lake??? by a dirty pond!!....booked for 3 people...eg 2 beds...gave us 1 king bed and would not change nor provide a stretcher...so 3 of us in one bed, fantastic.....the one positive was the curries from the restaurant were amazing, however i think this restaurant delivers in :) it is miles away from all the key places a tourist would like to visit...so don't do it!!!

After changing our hotel from dynasty to flamingo, we came there. It is better than dynasty but what a pity...
This hotel has very good eye sights but some problem didn't let us to enjoy more.
Furniture and beds are old. Wi-Fi is so much weak.the corridors are not likely...
Very important thing that makes us upset is that, the environment and rooms of this hotel is not as the pictures of hotel in its official site.this is one of the things that we call "lie".

Flamingo hotel is beside a lake and it is comfortable for those who want a relaxation. The room was clean and beautiful just like its picture in its internet site. The staff were polite and helpful. We had just breakfast in the hotel and it was good. The hotel is near to Ampang Mall which has got a lot of shops and good restaurants. You can walk there in less than 10 minutes or you can use its shuttle. There is an iranian Soltani restaurant on the 5th floor of the hotel which has 15% discount for hotel guests. There is a outside pool which is not so big but it is good. You will have free wifi internet in your room but it is some slow. The water pressure of bath is low and you have to full open warm water valve. The hotel is about 6 km of city center but taxi fare is relatively low and you can go there by 10RM (about 3.5$). Room TV has got only one Foxmovies channel which shows movies and 6 other channels are for Malaysian people. There is shop inside the hotel. Unfortunately hotel does not have a gym.

Room Tip: The best rooms are on 3rd and 4th floor and with lake view. Rooms number 301 and 401 are quieter tha...

Pictures and description was a bit misleading to what it was. Stayed for 2 nights our first nights in KL. Booked it cause it said KL City center on booking.com. Which turned out to be a 15 min taxi drive to get to city, not what we were after.
No alcohol served at hotel, which we probably shouldn't have expected, but still disappointing.
More of a business hotel than a holiday/weekend stay. Being in a bikini at the pool was uncomfortable when the ladies looked at us as if we were doing something horrible by taking our clothes off in front of the other guests (mainly men).
The staff was friendly but not more helpful than they needed to be. The concierge (moustache and dark/blue eyes) was great! Gave us many helpful tips and helped us with booking city tour and taxis etc. very friendly and English speaking.
Breakfast buffet was ok, bread, cereal, juice, rice, chicken etc. But the staff there didn't know much English.
Balcony should have table and chairs, the plants on balcony are dying/dead and
Hard bed, which was perfect for me cause that's what I want, but some people might not.
Probably wouldn't book again because of the location and the average standard. For this location and price I would expect to be in City Center at a good hotel.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel and found it to be rather disappointing.
After checking in we decided to freshen up with a shower and a walk by the lake.
Bathroom was kind of ummm how to say when the water pressure was less than pouring out a bottle of water, barely warm water, mould in the wet part of the shower, towel rack barely attached and able to hold the towels.

We checked out the balcony that held old wet and dry leaves from surrounding trees.
Air-con was taking up 1/3 of the space and very loud.
The Room was large enough for just us, The bed was rather old and hard.
TV remote was missing the cover thus the batteries always falling out.

After discovering all the cons we decided to still stay as it was only for 2 nights.
We then went out for a walk around the man made lake to find rather rude staff clearing up the fallen leaves.

From their we exited the hotel via the reception to ask about what available in the surrounding streets. We approached the desk that held all the information but was only told about the city highlights. After a little disappointed few seconds we were approached by one of the gents in the foyer, not sure of what you call them but he then led us outside and directed us to near by street vendors, shopping plaza and walking distance surrounding things to see.

Upon check out the reception spoke not a word of English. My wife being Indonesian spoke to her with broken Malay tongue to settle the room.
