The Styvel is a good, inexpensive hotel well located on the harbour front near the centre of Camaret. Don’t expect luxury or designer touches, but 59 euros for a harbour-view room was good value. The room was simply furnished but adequate, and the bathroom fairly modern and brightly lit. Our ‘vue de mer’ room had a lovely view across the harbour towards the Vauban tower. Despite facing the road it was quiet at night. There is some free private parking at the rear, wifi is free and the staff friendly. The restaurant (see separate review) is very good and better than we expected. Breakfast is basic ‘continental’: orange juice, baguette, croissant, but not wildly expensive. There was a bit of noise of footsteps and talking from the room above us now and then, but it was not bad. Our main criticism is that the lighting in the room was very dim and made reading at night difficult - the overhead light needed a bigger bulb, and the bedside lights had shades that made them useless for reading – this would be easy to fix!
