“Beautiful location, fantastic house, great family get together”

I recently enjoyed a stay at this property with my wife's family to celebrate my father in law's birthday. From the minute we arrived we were all suitably impressed. The house is clearly well set up to cater for guests just like us.. well stocked kitchen, suitable sized to deal with the number of people staying in the house, and plenty of wine glasses!

The setting is breathtaking. The mountains behind the house are inviting to the rambler (if the weather had been more suitable I would have attempted to scale them), the estate in which the house sits is gorgeous, with 2 lovely lochans within an easy walk, and deer, squirrels, rabbits, and eagles all spotted regularly, and the village at the end of the driveway is tiny but quaint. The pub is a decent walk away, but what better way to work up a thirst than to take a stroll through the forest!

My only criticism was the beds. my wife and I both felt the mattresses on the single beds in the room over the swimming pool end of the house were a little thin. By the time the week was over my back was suffering somewhat. Although the pool and the sauna were great at minimising the impact of this.

All in all, a great holiday location. If you could have more faith in the weather playing ball, this would be the perfect holiday location!

“At last a house for 10 that really can cater for that many”
Reviewed May 29, 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Having rented properties in the past that sleep more than 6, I'm always frustrated that the catering facilities done match up to the number of beds.
With that in mind our car was loaded up with large pots, baking bowls and even a hand blender.

I'm delighted to report that we could have saved ourselves a lot of bother because Allt an Ailein was the best equipped place I've ever stayed. They obviously know their target market because there was every tool you could need to cook up a feast for 10 + people. Plenty of plates and an assortment of wine glasses and champagne flutes that we put to good use too!!

The pool was thoroughly enjoyed by the whole family. I'd been concerned about safety with my toddler, but the locking door to the pool was a perfect solution.
The kids also loved saying good morning to the lambs that wander the garden.

It was a very leisurely week and i'll not hesitate to recommend to anyone, in particular those whose holiday catering extends further than warming up a pizza or ordering a take-away.

Thank you for your kind review. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and found the house had everything you needed! We like to make sure people have enough equipment for coking meals; I'm not sure there are any takeaways that would deliver that far!

Best wishes,

“Hill walks and a sauna to ease the aching joints!”

Allt an Ailein is the perfect spot to enjoy all that the west highlands has to offer by way of outdoor activities. There are walks from the doorstep - take a walk up to Maclean's Towel - the waterfalls which cascade down from Coire Dubh behind the house; Sallachan beach is only a mile or so down one of the tracks near the house and is a great spot for watching seals. Fort William is a trip on the Corran Ferry (about £8 each way so not cheap!) or an hour or so by road on the A861 which takes the scenic route along the western shore of Loch Linnhe. The rugged beauty of the Ardnamurchan peninsula is within travelling distance. If you are feeling more energetic, climb Ben Nevis as we did, and enjoy the views (if the weather lets you!) or bag 5 Munros at once by walking the Ring of Steall.
So much to do...but do try to give in to the temptation of a day or two just enjoying the swimming pool, sauna and games room at the house; all in all, it was hard to drag ourselves away at the end of our holiday. Things to note: the access track is a private road and although they do try to maintain it, there are some impressive potholes so don't be trying to break the land speed record ;); there are some very friendly sheep who will visit you from time to time so just be aware if you are bringing a dog; don't miss the experience of an early morning stroll to Loch Linnhe to watch the mist rising over the mountains - bliss!

Hi Sanzanella,

Thank you so much for your kind review. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay at Allt an Ailein house. It sounds like you took full advantage of all that the area has to offer!

We understand the ferry crossings can be rather extortionate! However, if you are ever returning to the area please note that you can buy a book of 30 ferry tickets, which at this writing costs £72.40. So if you had several cars doing multiple crossings a day then it works out much cheaper.

Thanks again for your lovely review, and we hope to be able to welcome you again in the future.

Kind regards,

The Ardgour Holiday Homes Team

“Beautiful location.”
Reviewed June 23, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

A fantastic quite location near Ardgour. Getting there is part of the holiday by using the ferry from the main A82 road. There is plenty of room in this property comprising 4 bedrooms, large kuchen and living room and well equipped games room, but the icing on the cake is the indoor swimming pool.A perfect place to unwind and chill out, if you don`t wish to travel around the beautiful surrounding area near Fort William

Hi Oldfoggymick!

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and all that the house has to offer. Yes the ferry crossing over to Ardgour can be quite exciting, as a last wee adventure before arriving at the house!
