“A lake of multiple attractions”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

The lake of Rewalser has distinction of multiple attractions. This itself is the landmark for Rewalser town,
which is 25 Kms from 'Mandi' , Himachal Pradesh [HP],India. The lake with tourists' attraction and
Rewalser as a town of Hindu and Buddhist holy shrines, combined should make 'Rewalser' as a very
significant place of Dist . Mandi in HP , but surprisingly , in my opinion , "Rewalser" is quite an unnoticed place , from tourism point of view, despite the fact that it is so close to 'Mandi', which is
almost centrally located in HP and Roads emerge in different directions , from Mandi . I personally feel , the concerned authorities must realize this fact and do whatever is possible to promote 'Rewalser'
as an important tourist place.
The great feature of the town ' Rewalser ' is that it has following attractions, in and around it ;

1. Rewalser Lake , as beautification tool for this small place , surrounded by hills , from all sides.
A view of Rewalser town with lake , from the top of surrounding mountainas , makes a majestic
panoramic appearence.
2. The lake has 3 Hindu Temples , dedicated to Lord Krisna , Lord Shiva and Sage Lowas.
3. There are 3 Budhisst Monasteries at Rewalser.
4. Another holy lake up at the surrounding mountains , at an altitude of 1750 Mrs from sea level is
there , by name ' Kunt Bhyog'.
5. A 123 ft high statue of Guru ' Padmasambhava ' is there at Rewalser , which is located in lush
green forest of the surrounding mountains. It is from ' Rewalser ' the great Indian Guru( Teacher)
' Padmasambhava' left for Tibet and spread his phelosophy of Buddhism to Tibettans. In Tibet he
is better known as ' Rinpoche '.

Just to supplement my above description, I would like to offer few photographs from my Gallery.
In my personal capacity, strictly , I would like to suggest my fellow readers , to make it a point to
visit 'Rewalser' and enjoy all these spots , to judge , whether or not this place deserves better popula-
rity , for the benefit of many tourists , who are unaware of such wonderful place 'Rewalser' with its

I was extremely happy on my inclusion of ' Rewalser ' in my travel itinerary of HP and at the same time
could not believe , how such a wondful place remains so unknown to tourists ?

“it´s worth a trip for the view”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

The road leading from Mandi to Rewalsar has some spectacular views of the mountains. Rewalsar itself has several temples around the lake and a huge statue.

“Lets Roam Rewalsar Lake. Its Beautiful.!!!!”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

Rewalsar is mid-altitude lake located on a mountain spur in the Mandi district, 22.5 km south-west from Mandi. 1,360 m above sea level.

The place is really energetic and cheerful. Lots to things to notice and explore. Place is situated at the feet of hills and a big lake in it. Around the lake the Rewalasar is situated.

The first thing you will notice from far is the 123 feet (37.5 m) high statue of Padmasambhava.

There are three different Buddhist monasteries and few Hindu temples. You can also go to near bye Rewalsar Zoo.

Don't forget to feed Fishes in the lake and make sure you don't hurt or touch them.

You will see lots of Buddhist roaming around and chanting their Mantras. The place is beautiful and amazing.

Keep Walking

“A great retreat”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

An excellent place to retreat in the proximity to three religions: Hindu, Buddha and Sikh. It is a place where Lomash rishi, Arjuna the great Pandava and Padmasambhav performed penance. There is a gurudwara, a few Buddhist temples and monasteries as well as Hindu temples on in this small beautiful quiet town.
The great rewalsar lake and seven lakes 8 kms up on the hill and Naina devi temple 3 kms farther from where you have a 360 degree wide angle view of mountains are the places you must visit.
Himachal Tourism has a very good facility in addition to certain private hotels and accommodation in monasteries. It is a beautiful town to relax. I love this place.
