The Barot Dam is not much of the sight in the winter months . its more like a small pond . though the surroundings are pristine with with greenery and nature in its virgin glory .

Dam in barot on river Uhl almost stops 80% of water flowing down towards tikkan valley. The other side of the dam has beautiful homestays and serene surroundings.

Barot dam was built by British in early 19 th century on Ulh river. To construct the dam a trolley system on rails was constructed from Joginder Nagar to Barot valley. It is still existing and is a master piece of human engineering.Water from the Barot dam was taken through a under ground tunnel to Shanon Hydel power project to move the turbines to generate electricity. It is still functional after more than 100 years.

The Barrage, The River, The Fountain Pipe, Many Small Wooden Bridges, Many Water Falls and among them the Weather. You never found Crowd in Barot, coz only few People visit this Place. Good Food in Good Price. Local People always eager to Help You. Small Homestay in Good Price.once you Visit Barot you will Lost in the Beauty of Barot and never want to come back. i suggest you Please once go Barot & then tell me your Views. you never judge that which is more Beautiful, the Uhl River or Bada Gaon or Ruiling Waterfall or The Barrage or the Weather.
